STOP AND SNAP

Well, you've read the notes, the notes had both stop and snap and pots and pans, and now it is time for you to post until the stop and snap cows come home.

Speaking of "Edge of Tomorrow," my library ordered 5 copies of it and they just came in.  There are 42 holds, so it was rushed through.  I have the very first hold, so I should get my copy today. ;) Also, the record is searchable by the alternate title of "Live, die, repeat : Edge of tomorrow"...just in case anyone else is confused by what the title is.

Well, I have a meeting in the morning, right when I'm normally supposed to get to work, so I need to get to work earlier than usual.  It's with a rep from one of our very minor jobbers, so it shouldn't be a very long meeting.

After work, I have a fund raiser committee meeting for Theater Artists Olympia's "TAO of the Dead 2," and then call-backs for TAO's next production, an original musical adaptation called "The Head That Wouldn't Die," based on the movie "The Brain That Wouldn't Die."  Should be interesting...they had the first round of auditions on Saturday and Sunday, but no women auditioned!  There are a couple of female roles that have been pre-cast, but they still need a couple of other women.  HOPEFULLY, some will show up tonight.

In 1968 my father took me to see the motion picture Paper Lion at the late Atwater Cinema. Sometime during the running of the film they stopped it and the lights came up. Many policemen and firemen came in with flashlights looking under the many seats. At that period of time in the history of Quebec and Montreal there were a lot of bomb threats and actually bombings. I remember we watched the rest of the film standing at the back of the cinema. My mother gave my father the riot act for not talking me out of there and right home.

TOD:

I can't think of anything weird that happened to me in a movie theater...except that I saw a lot of weird movies.

Good morning, all! Another Paint Your Wagon day and a call at some point toJoshie; he's feeling a bit like a piece of taffy this past week, pulled hither and thither between the Encores! Gala, The Bandwagon, and the regular Encores! season, and I want to hear how he's coping.

That's my day. No money, no leaving home. Tomorrow, when my social security lands, I can step out to Toyland.

TOD

I think I've mentioned this once before in some context or other, but the craziest thing for me was probably the stink bomb being set off and the temporary evacuation of the Fox Venice during a showing of C*CKS*CKER BLUES in the mid-'70s.

A memorable evening, even if I recall almost nothing about the film itself.

And a memorable smell.   :)

I took all of my younger brothers and sisters to see a movie....probably BENJY or BIGFOOT.....my brother Dane was sitting between my sister Myrna and I.

I went to hand Myrna her Coke - in a nice paper cup with ice - Dane was leaning up in his chair....just as my hand got behind him, he leaned back.

The Coke went all over him, and he was wearing the ice like a dunce cap.....the entire theatre was most amused....

TOD:

I once went to the local revival theater to see "Singin' in the Srain" on the big screen. The print they received was missing the last reel but they had the finale of "An American in Paris." So that's how they closed out the screening.

TOD - During the end-of-year holidays in 1988, we took Rob, age 3, to his first theater movie, Disney's Oliver and Company.  The coming attractions had already started when we arrived, so the theater was dark.  As soon as the credits were over and the lights came up after the movie, Rob shot out of his seat and ran down front to examine the wall beneath the screen.  When we asked him what he was doing, he said he was looking for where they put the video in.

TOD:

I was in a theater watching "Gladiator".   It is one of those theaters that has a cup holder and I had a large soda in the one by my seat.  I had my jacket over the back of the seat.   I got up for a quick trip to the men's room.   When I returned, a woman was in my seat.

I approached her and said, "You're in my seat."  She looked at me suspiciously and said, "There are plenty of other seats in this theater that are unoccupied."

"Yes," I agreed, "but those seats don't have my soda in the cup holder and my jacket on the back of the seat.  The one you are in DOES have those things."

She jumped up and scurried away.

It is Tuesday in Oakland CA.

Tuesday morning, to be precise.

I am not particularly thrilled to be at work, but there it is.
