I originally only joined MySpace because I was doing my first show with Theater Artists Olympia (it was their first production of "Cannibal! The Musical") and they sent out a lot of information through MySpace.  It really wasn't a specific choice that I made.  When FB came along, they all migrated over and dropped MS for info disbursement, so I migrated as well.  I really don't use it for much more than TAO stuff and just reading what other people post.  I rarely update my status.

FB is a great communication tool when you are doing a show....you can contact everyone at once with the same message.  More immediate and easier to respond than with email.  That's my favorite part of it.

And I like seeing pictures from friends and reading about what's going on.....but I don't need to know EVERYTHING that's posted there.

I really don't need to know when someone is sitting at the dentist waiting for their teeth to me cleaned.  I understand if it is something a bit more serious-lol

I love facebook.  I guess it depends what you use it for.

I hope DR MBarnum comes back.  But for him to delete his account I guess he had to be pretty mad.  I could understand not reading or responding to posts that might offend you.  But to delete your account because of something one person wrote??

Sadly, this isn't the first time that someone's done that. :-\

I'm just so bored of all this stuff.  And you can delete or block on Facebook, yes, but it all takes time and stuff STILL shows up on your newsfeed that is irritating in ways our little board never is.  I'm not writing him again - it's tiresome.  Yes, why WOULD he delete his account - so silly.  But it's like Pogue - he no longer visits here because he thinks Facebook is all about HIM.  It is to laugh.  More people saw his posts here than they do there although that isn't really the point.  He even said to me years ago when he first went there that Facebook was like having his own discussion board, hence why were we necessary.  If you have to ask that question, then by all means have your home on Facebook and forget all the lovely people who were so kind and supportive over the years.  Of course, they think they still have that on Facebook, but it ain't the same.  Then again, I could just shut this board down and do my notes and that would be that.  I'm really annoyed about MBarnum and not because of what was posted here, which was easily ignored.

And yes, Facebook can be a useful tool for getting the word out.  That is basically what I use it for but in will never EVER take the place of this board - THIS board is smaller, more communal, and we don't have to look at pictures of maimed animals and "share" totally bogus stories as if they were real, nor have to see normally smart people behaving like complete idiots.

Yesterday I had my car inspected.  A safety inspection is required once a year and an emissions inspection every other year.  Now that my car is 14 years old I was a little apprehensive but was relieved that it passed both inspections.   It's the little things...

Kevin I can imagine your concern-congrats you passed.

Are there any states that don't require an emissions test?

Minnesota used to, but does not currently.

I think it's only Northern Virginia and maybe another part, but not the entire state.  And I'm pretty sure there's none in Western New York (right, DR Kate?), not sure about other areas.

Interesting they stopped doing it where other states have added the test.

Odd, I would expect a test for a state license would be required throughout the state.

Washington doesn't...at least, I've never had to take my car in for an emissions test.

LOL Then I'm sure it doesn't.  It is a nuisance to have to take the car in to be tested.  At least in Oregon it is a one stop procedure.  If the car passes you drive away with your new stickers for the plates.

I think it has to do with the amount of air pollution in the more populated areas.

Stop and Snap is quite clever.

Those words also reminds me of that "production  number," "Bend and Snap," from Legally Blonde, the Musical.

I must have missed that one!
