The Essential Jacques Demy, purchased during Criterion's recent 50% sale, has arrived!

I liked THE MONUMENTS MEN.  So far we have passed on Winter's Tale because the reviews weren't very good.

We liked Godzilla well enough but were disappointed it wasn't better.  It was way too dark, I couldn't see a lot of what was happening and since I can't hear all that well anymore I was rather confused at times.  At least I could way my hand at Keith to pause and explain or replay.

I liked the Monuments Men, too. Not a great movie, but greatly enjoyable. I liked Shakespeare's Winter's Tale, but I don't think that's the movie in question here.

Singsong, glad you enjoyed Nice Work. Did the orchestra sound particularly wonderful? I can't tell if it's the acoustics in the new hall here, which are spectacular, or if they were really that good, but the sound of the music was my favorite part of the show.

At times, John G., the orchestra sounded pretty good. But more of the time, it sounded pretty thin. And when I checked my program afterward, I noted that there were only 8 musicians; two of which were on keyboards. Hardly an "orchestra" at all!

And while the monkeys are helping themselves to the leftovers perhaps they can help out a little around the house. NOT that the Vixhome isn't perfection itself. Just that monkeys can be a bit messy and should pick up after themselves, IMHO.

It was a difficult week here. I think I caught a little virus that went into my weak spots--neck and shoulders--and played HAVOC. I saw the acupuncturist today. This is the new one, Dr Hu. I always think Dr Who when I hear or say her name. Lots of needles. I asked if I could have some "ear seeds," too. I had them once before and felt they helped. They're tiny seeds, often chia seeds, which are taped in the ear and massaged periodically. Last time I wore them I was expecting someone to say, "Ewww! What's in your ear?!!" but no one ever did. Since Halloween is coming I suppose I should make up some ghoulish story!
