LOVED The Wizard of Oz with Orchestra tonight.   They got behind a titch on some of the munchkinland stuff, but other than that, they were pretty darned spot on the whole movie.  The balance was very good.  I forgot there was a live orchestra most of the time.  The movie was great to watch on a big screen

That sounds wonderful.

There were so many people there who clearly hadn't seen The Wizard of Oz before. It was fun to hear their reaction.  It was fun for me to see it so clearly, I noticed a lot of little things I never noticed before.

And the costume winners were a great Witch, the apple tree, a flying monkey, two little girls, one was a munchkin and one was Dorothy and then a whole family that came as the main characters.

I think a lot of the tickets tonight were probably free sponsor tickets, but since it brought so many new people to the theater I think it was a great thing to do

There was an intermission, right as they knock on the door to the Emerald City

The President of the symphony board is something of a socialite and a party planner kind of person.  She had planned a reception afterward and announced that everyone staying for it should stay in the theater and everyone leaving should leave, then when the tables were set up everyone could go to the reception.   LOL!!! Right, like 2500 people are going to listen to her.  Almost everyone left the theater.  They hung around in the lobby until the cupcakes and cookies came, loaded up on them and left.  It was more of a frenzy than a reception.  And yes, I got a cupcake, a cookie and a glass of punch

No, thank goodness, but this monkey was only about 2 years old, so he wouldn't have scared me.

Well I doubt it was in 1939 when it first came out :)

If anyone has a chance to see it with an orchestra it was fun and well worth it.  It's part of the 75th anniversary of the movie

So I go to the office quick before the show (it's right next door) and what is in the mail?  The receipts for the express mail M took to the post office Friday.  If you're going to the trouble of spending $20 to ship something important, why on earth wouldn't you wait for the receipt?

I really hope it's a learning curve and not that she just doesn't get it.

I did sit by a nice young man.  He's a piano major and teacher at USD (South Dakota). His girlfriend was playing cello tonight. It was her first concert with the SCSO.  Hope she enjoyed it, that was a challenge
