Well, you've read the notes, the notes decided on the book, and now it is time for you to post until the decisive cows come home.

It's getting  a little busy at the office again.  Surprising for after tax season, but most welcome.

*I like the movie better than the original, however I thing that John Wayne was a better "Rooster" than Bridges.

Good morning, all!

I have an appointment with my doctor at 11:30, then I will head to City Center, where we will see what work Joshie has waiting for me.  I doubt i will be there for more than a couple of hours, depending on the amount of work.  I won't make more than a couple of hundred bucks this week, but it will pay for the Fed Ex charges to ship some of the crap in my apartment to other locales and perhaps stock my fridge for the month.  I am very grateful for it.

Still, I need a job.

Based on BK's recommendation in his notes a few weeks ago, I requested a review copy of SUNDAYS AND CYBELE, which I had never seen.

I watched it last night and, whereas I enjoyed it; thought the acting, direction and, in particular, the cinematography, were superb, I also thought that the story was a bit "creepy".

Yet, my primary objection to the film is that we were told what happened in the climatic scene, rather than being allowed to see it.

But, that's just my opinion.

DR DRUXY did you watch the Edgar G. Ulmer documentary yet?  I finally watched it and thought it was one big missed opportunity.

I did watch it.  There were parts I enjoyed.  I thought the idea of interviewing people in the car was interesting.

My main interest in him is DETOUR because of Tom Neal.

Interesting fact: Ann Savage, who did four movies with Neal (including DETOUR), detested him.

The Big Lebowski
The Fisher King

One of my cousins recommended "The Big Lebowski" to his parents - his parents were about 80-years old at the time. Of course, they could only watch about the first ten minutes and then turned it off. I couldn't imagine why he'd recommend a movie where every other word is the f-word to his parents. Of course, they'd hate it! Then it dawned on me - the parents are Jewish. He must have thought the concept of not bowling on Shabbas to be really hilarious - hilarious enough to carry the whole movie.

BK

I hope you will write another mystery along the lines of Rewind or Writer's Block. I've gone back and reread them many times over the years. Rewind for fun of knowing who the characters and Writer's Block for the multiple levels of story telling. I have yet to read another book that attempted to do that.

Have you ever attempted to adapt Writer's Block for the screen? Is it possible because of the novel's structure

I have never gone to a Jeff Bridges film. I have gone to movies that have Jeff Bridges in them. So I really don't have a favorite.

Thursday morning greetings!   The new fridge is coming between 2:45 and 4:45 this afternoon, so I've done some more clearing and pitching.  After lunch I'll transfer the frozen stuff to our stand- alone freezer and the other stuff to a couple of coolers.  Richard's missing all the fun because he's at an all-day meeting at Rob and Mary Linda's church.  I will join them this evening for dinner.

Writer's Block, I suppose, could be a film, but the main device is so literary I'm not sure it would work quite the same.  It was also a book that was insane to write and keep straight - I went back and read some of it a few years ago and I really don't know how I did it - I like it but not sure I could do anything like it again, that kind of Chinese box thing.

Yes, DR Singdaw, they called yesterday evening.  I'm hoping it's more toward 2:45, but either way is fine.
