Shayne asked me to respond to the clip of Timothy Carey.  Weirdest man ever, but I liked him and he was fun to work with.  That bit was a soap opera spoof, a soap opera for adults only on cable.

DR Vixmom, one of my favorite stories.  The way Rev. Dunham told it, though, it was 2 rowboats and a helicopter.

Still bleeding a bit so I put some more gauze back there and am biting on it for thirty minutes.  Headache is really coming on strong so I think I'll take the Tylenol as soon as I pull out the gauze.

I was recently reminded of this -  I always liked it .  Please  skip it if its not your cuppa  :)

God Will Save Me

A terrible storm came into a town and local officials sent out an emergency warning that the riverbanks would soon overflow and flood the nearby homes. They ordered everyone in the town to evacuate immediately.

A faithful Christian man heard the warning and decided to stay, saying to himself, “I will trust God and if I am in danger, then God will send a divine miracle to save me.”

The neighbors came by his house and said to him, “We’re leaving and there is room for you in our car, please come with us!” But the man declined. “I have faith that God will save me.”

As the man stood on his porch watching the water rise up the steps, a man in a canoe paddled by and called to him, “Hurry and come into my canoe, the waters are rising quickly!” But the man again said, “No thanks, God will save me.”

The floodwaters rose higher pouring water into his living room and the man had to retreat to the second floor. A police motorboat came by and saw him at the window. “We will come up and rescue you!” they shouted. But the man refused, waving them off saying, “Use your time to save someone else! I have faith that God will save me!”

The flood waters rose higher and higher and the man had to climb up to his rooftop.

A helicopter spotted him and dropped a rope ladder. A rescue officer came down the ladder and pleaded with the man, "Grab my hand and I will pull you up!" But the man STILL refused, folding his arms tightly to his body. “No thank you! God will save me!”

Shortly after, the house broke up and the floodwaters swept the man away and he drowned.

When in Heaven, the man stood before God and asked, “I put all of my faith in You. Why didn’t You come and save me?”

And God said, “Son, I sent you a warning. I sent you a car. I sent you a canoe. I sent you a motorboat. I sent you a helicopter. What more were you looking for?”

I've heard this before but in the second line where you have:

A faithful Christian man heard the warning and decided to stay, saying to himself, “I will trust God and if I am in danger, then God will send a divine miracle to save me.”

...the line I'd heard was just "...then God will save me."  And the last line was God saying, "What did you expect? A miracle?"

Well, this is pretty interesting...Mr. Magoo's Christmas Carol, Benefit for Actors Fund, Will Feature Christopher Sieber, Betsy Wolfe, John Bolton, Jennifer Cody.

Quote
The Actors Fund will present a one-night benefit concert presentation of Mr. Magoo's Christmas Carol — based on the prime-time animated holiday special — Dec. 15 at 7:30 PM at The Gerald W. Lynch Theatre at John Jay College.

Directed by Peter Flynn with musical direction by Emmy Award winner John McDaniel and choreography by Marcos Santana, the cast will include Jeff Blumenkrantz, John Bolton, Jennifer Cody, Don Darryl Rivera, Matthew Scott, two-time Tony Award nominee Christopher Sieber and Betsy Wolfe.

The evening will also feature the original orchestrations — heard live for the first time — with a full orchestra.

Mr. Magoo's Christmas Carol features a score by composer Jule Styne and lyricist Bob Merrill. The musical is described as "a delightful retelling of the Dickens classic, featuring the comically myopic cartoon character Quincy Magoo."

Originally airing in December 1962, "Mr. Magoo's Christmas Carol" was the first animated holiday special ever produced specifically for television.

And now, I'm leaving work to go to see the filmed stage play, "Frankenstein," this time with Jonny Lee Miller as The Creature and Benedict Cumberbatch as Dr. Frankenstein.  I'll be fun to compare both performances.

Until later!

No. Unless you count the ones in the secret room under the stairs.        :)

No, those don't count.

A friend in town has been hired to be the publicist for Cheyenne Jackson's new film, which is premiering in December here in SA. Seems rudy's going to invite me to the premiere and set up an interview. Sounds like fun.

That would be SIX DANCE LESSONS.

Nope. It's "The One I Wrote for You." The preview gives you the whole movie. Still, it looks fun.

DR Jennifer, if you ask the bike store might do it for free.

"I am loving the mirror (helps me see if other bikes are coming up behind me and i can see cars beside me). I love the odometer (it has a clock. the temperature outside, speed, calories, how far i go...)."

Unfortunately the bike store is no where near me.  But it does not seem hard at all.

congratulations on the new bike Jennifer!  I don;t think I have ever heard of  bike license before

My old bike had one.  It is odd because i emailed asking about the licenses and the person responded said i needed one. But when i went to city hall the lady said she maybe gives out one per year.  So they are required but nobody much seems to get them.

The speeds on my new bike are much better than on my old one.  I can really adjust them depending on the wind.

Guess I'll read the instructions although I can't see the difference between drinking from a glass, can or water bottle and using a straw.

What I want to know is: can we double up and use "76 Trombones" for Sunday morning's anthem?

That depends are you ELCA  or LCA?

actually  probably only John G will get that joke

You left out LCMS.

Speaking of John G -  what a great opportunity !  Do you need someone to come along and sharpen your pencils?

No. A friend will be visiting from out of town that week. I would have asked TCB, but there's that sticky wicket about the restraining order he mentioned.

"Don't drink with a straw for at least a week because the sucking action can dislodge the blood clot from the socket."

Just read that sentence, so no straw for me - just a glass, can or bottle, although can't a bottle also have suction?

Minor bleeding still occurring, but not much to speak of so I'm leaving it sans gauze unless it gets worse at some point, which hopefully it will not.
