I'm off on a trip for most of the weekend, so will miss New York Halloween festivities.   The next-door neighbors do it up very classily and festively, and have started putting up their decorations.

Vibes to BK for more NY reservations!

There was a delay of some sort, as normally when I order tickets from other ticketing services, I get the email confirm almost immediately - but in this case, it took quite a few hours to get the email confirmation.

Good morning, all!  At some point before 1:00am, I dreamed about my good friend Alan Freeman, who died in March. I still miss him, and I woke most unsettled over it. I then dreamed that I was helping sort the clothes of a friend who had died; we were cleaning out space for Joshie, and there were lots of shirts. I've forgotten now who were the friends helping me.  In my last dream I was a patient in a hospital ward and my mother was there, irritating me. I kept whispering to the nurse something like, I won't tell you while my mother is here.

Then the alarm rang and I was very happy to get out of bed. And I am off to therapy.

DR Cillaliz, good news about Callie!

DR Jane re: my mom being out of the country and telling people things.

No she isn't emailing people she is video chatting on the ipad.  The thing with my niece had just happened the same morning.  It was just weird that my sister called me at 8am and my mom had already told me (since she had talked to her at 7am). :)

We just finalized the cover for MURDER IN BABYLON, my forthcoming William Desmond Taylor novel, which should be available on Amazon and elsewhere by early December.  BearManor Media is publishing.

The image is, apparently, too large to post here, but it's on my FB page if you want to take a look.

Friday morning greetings!  Well, our early trick or treaters had much nicer weather than those who will be out tonight.  We have freeze warnings and predictions for blustery rain.

I am home from therapy, waiting on Fed Ex to pick up this shipment.

The staff today dressed up as the seven dwarfs, some more successfully than others.

It's Friday in Oakland CA....and today seems very Irving.

Alas! Alack! Alarum!  I live in a secure building and we never get trick-or-treaters.

I feel so like "The Host With the Most...on the Ball!"

And no one to share it with.  Ptooey!

Today IS our Halloween festivity, such as it might be considered festive.

Our annual Halloween BBQ bit the dust a few years back when it was determined that we could no longer cook on the building's patio.  The smell was entering the building and distracting workers on the lower floors.

So, we went into what is called "Stone Soup" mode.  We have been doing "Stone Soup" food drive stuff for three years.   Each department, or a combination of departments, collects food from its employees and presents it "thematically".   Departments are graded on presentation, volume/weight, whether employees embraced the theme by dressing up, etc.

Last year, my department did a "Wizard of Oz" theme and we won.  This year, our theme is based on "The Hunger Games" but is called "BMD Hungry Games".   We've collected more food than ever before, but the "spirit" isn't there for many of us.   We'll see what we see.  And then we shall see no more of it.

Other parts of the festivity include a fundraiser featuring pizza, salad and soft drinks.  I pre-ordered four slices of pizza.  Yum.
