Friday morning greetings!  Well, our early trick or treaters had much nicer weather than those who will be out tonight.  We have freeze warnings and predictions for blustery rain.

I'm sure ours wished they were out last night instead of tonight.

Thank you, DRs Singdaw and George, for the comments on my photo.  It's one of my favorites of Mom and me.

It is a cold, wet day here in Oakland today.

Of course, "Cold" is a relative term here.  It's Fahrenheit 57 degrees.

But add wet to that and "brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr".

Regarding our "Stone Soup" entry:

We won!  We won!   By 2 points, we WON!  We had 4 other departments join up as one to try to beat us.   The trouble they had was that the people who can "afford" to contribute only bring in a little.  It's those who know what it is to run out of food who contribute the most.  Since our department is more blue collar than white collar, we get more contributions.

In my humble opinion, of course.

We decided, though, that this would be the last "intramural" competition.  Next year, we will work together as an Agency and put forth our efforts to defeat other agencies (who joined the competition last year).  (This year, only the food will be combined to represent our agency.  Our (BMD) winning theme will be the County submission for our agency.  We will not win.  Last year our food donations were less than half that of another agency's.  Oh, well.

I'm so excited.

I get one extra hour of sleep this weekend!

Oh! How I hate to get up in the morning when it's cloudy and rainy.

I have two slices of pizza (Round Table King Arthur's Supreme, or something to that effect) for din-din.

Not sure if it's tonight or tomorrow.  The two pieces I ate for lunch are sitting on my stomach like so much steamed tuna.

Back from a lunch meeting - I had an artichoke - that's it, so I will eat something later, probably around four before the trick or treaters arrive.  Because if I wait, it will be after nine and the artichoke wasn't big and is just a nosh.

It's been overcast all day and I actually had to turn on the heat just now to warm the house up.  I'm feeling a bit better - I was really concerned last night.  So, keep those excellent vibes and xylophones coming.

Bruce, I'm sorry to hear about your dental troubles. Hopefully, the worst is over. I didn't know they could put in a crown after an extraction. I thought the only options were a bridge or an implant. A crown is better!

Dental vibes!

It's still very darkly cloudy and more rain is going to fall.

I should have had the sun in the morning and the moon at night.

It feels like an Irving day....and nothing has seemed un-Irving.

I'm about to start some dental work myself. I have a new dentist, who feels confident he can fix the tooth enamel erosion problem with reverse veneers. It won't be cheap, but the previous FOUR dentists had no solution. They just looked at me in horror--not a comforting reaction.

I think dentists get special training for that look.  It always precedes some costly resolution to what they perceive to be your problem.

Huzzah!  Huzzah!

My Volume 1 of the remastered in high definition Blu ray of the Joan Hickson "Miss Marple" movies has arrived.  This volume has "The Murder at the Vicarage", "The Moving Finger", "The Body in the Libary" and "A Murder is Announced".

Nice to have these on a rainy Halloween night!

While I was scouring the Internet for a tooth enamel solution I learned of Dr Ellie, a British dentist who felt so badly for kids whose teeth she had to pull, often without an anesthetic. She recommends, among other things, Closys mouthwash, which I've been using and it really does help minimize pockets in my gums.

Brcue:  Do not relent on taking all the prescribed antibiotics.  Amoxicillin "can" make you feel a bit crappy, but it's doing its job!
