I'm hoping for rain here. We haven't had any in many months. According to one forecast, we may have some tomorrow. It's very overcast today and looks like it could rain.

No rain for Halloween but rain for those of us who desperately need it!

I've actually had either the fan or the AC (or both) on almost constantly since May. The weather's only now cooling down.

The 41st Annual Village Halloween Parade ends at our street (literally, it goes from Spring Street and 6th Avenue in Soho to 16th Street and 6th Avenue in Chelsea) so we don't leave the house after 6 or 6:30. The convenient way to watch a parade. I've only seen our local children's Halloween parade once, and that was because we were having the floors refinished and stayed at a hotel on the same street as the hotel.

DR Kate, have you seen BRIDES OF CHRIST? It's an Australian TV series that I enjoyed and thought was very well done. I think you'd like it. Not likely at your library, as it's not that well known in the US, but worth the trouble to find.

We won! We won! By 2 points, we WON! We had 4 other departments join up as one to try to beat us. The trouble they had was that the people who can "afford" to contribute only bring in a little. It's those who know what it is to run out of food who contribute the most. Since our department is more blue collar than white collar, we get more contributions.

We decided, though, that this would be the last "intramural" competition. Next year, we will work together as an Agency and put forth our efforts to defeat other agencies (who joined the competition last year). (This year, only the food will be combined to represent our agency. Our (BMD) winning theme will be the County submission for our agency. We will not win. Last year our food donations were less than half that of another agency's. Oh, well.

Congratulations though I don't know why the collar color should make a difference in the donations. I'm not doubting or criticizing your statement & I get that people who have never gone without don't know what it feels like.

I think it is great your work place has the competition to collect food.

Does BBC America show prrograms unedited? I was watching an episode of TORCHWOOD today. One of the main characters (Owen) had just made love with a gril from the past (don't ask) and afterward he said to her, "Maybe we could become f*** buddies. I was kind of shocked, because I know the series was made for BBC America. Are they allowed to say that on BBCA?

I remember that the first time it was broadcast. I thought that it was pretty cool...both the language AND the topic on the show!
