Yes, sad to hear about Car Talk. From what the obit said I know now why they stopped doing the show live 2 years ago.

Good morning, all!  The curse of Daylight Savings? My internal clock tells me that 5:30 is still 6:30, so I was wide awake at 5:30.  Once I realized I wasn't going back to sleep, I got up, dressed, and voted.  I'm now on my first cuppa coffee, and at 7, I will call Fed Ex with a shipping inquiry.

I must be out of here at 8 to catch the first of two buses to 23rd and Fifth Avenue. I have an appointment with my podiatrist. I will then stop at Toyland, pick up some more things, and head home.  I've got a really tangled mess with "I Still See Elisa" from Paint Your Wagon: the full score is in A, going up to B-flat on the second refrain, and the orchestra parts and vocal score are in C with no key change.  I have to mentally transpose every single note as I check it out an it's exhausting.

More coffee!

I was listening to a rerun of Car Talk on my radio. One of the NPR channels (satellite) runs 3hr block in the afternoon and then repeats them in the evening. the show were from 11/2006. At first I thought it was a joke but AP news confirmed it.

Their retirement was most likely because of the insidious disease was detected at the time. I'm glad that these shows are being rerun. It's like they'll always be there.

Good Morning.  It's cold and dark.  One day it's summer, and the next day it's winter.  What happened to fall?  Where did autumn go?

UPDATE

Saw my knee doctor. He wants me to be off my feet for another 4 weeks. If there is no improvement then he'll talk surgery. He doesn't want to rush into surgery. If there is no improvement then he will go in "clean" the area. The last thing he wants to do is a knee replacement.

UPDATE #2
As for the thyroid situation hopefully by the end of week a final decision will be made about what they are going to do,

TOD:

Charlie Chaplin
Buster Keaton
Harold Lloyd
Woody Allen

I'd also add Abbott and Costello, but they were not "filmmakers".

Thank you all so much for your thoughts about Dylan in yesterday's posts (and also thoughts about Toby, and to Jane for posting that photo of Toby and Dylan in their begging-for-food prime).

TCB - I also am sorry I didn't get to see your Scrooge live onstage, but am so happy to have your terrific performance on video, especially at this time of year.

DR Jane (or any other DRs) have you ever listened to an audio book?

My library just got three new audio books.  Two are for books that I am going to be reading in the next few weeks. One is for a book that I just read a month or two ago.  I have never listened to an audio book before but I am curious.  So I put in a reservation for the two that I will be reading. I thought maybe I could try to listen at the same time i am reading the book that goes with it (not listen while i am reading, but alternate or listen to some passages after i have read them).

I know a lot of people who love audio books. But i have been hesitant because i like reading and feel like listening would be taking something away from the book.  I am always curious at people who write book reviews after only listening to the audio.

Two of my favorite shows are starting again this week.  Masterchef Junior (tonight) and White Collar (on Thursday).

Have any of you guys who like cooking/cooking shows ever seen MCJ?  I love it. My nieces are obsessed with it.  Last season was so good (the judges are much nicer to the kids than on regular MC).  It is astonishing to me that these kids can cook like they do.  Such an enjoyable show.

Although I have 6 of my books and stage plays on audio, I have yet to get a handle on this market.  I certainly know that there is a big one, but I'm not quite sure where it is.  (My accountant tells me that he listens to books when driving.)

The only time that I have listened to books on audio is when I had a 30-60 drive to my office every day.  Listening to a book helped pass the time.

Yes I have heard of people who do audio books on their commute to work or while they are on the treadmill or doing chores.  I just don't see listening to a book as being equivalent to reading a book.  But I am curious.

Good morning, all.

Well, last night was crazy.  I dozed in front of a movie, and thought I would have no trouble continuing a nice sleep once in bed.  I was wrong.  I went to bed, fell asleep, woke up again at around 1:30 AM, and was awake till past 4:00 AM.  I think I just made up most of that.  It's just a damned good thing I had nothing going on this morning and could luxuriate in extra sleep.  Holy moley.

Coffee!

Same here.  The reruns have been so prolific and always so entertaining that I'd actually forgotten they'd officially retired the show.
