My former vet called today and asked about Callie. I told her I was changing vets. Apparently no one had mentioned that to her. She was pretty shocked. I told her it was about expense and distance. She said she can't change that. They aren't that much more than the new place for average visits - I didn't realize I had a first time discount - but the after hours cost at the old vet was $238 just to show up, not including any treatment. The new place is $119. The new vet is 18 blocks from my house, the other is about 9 miles. I don't use after hours very often, but when Callie has an episode, it can happen two or three times. That's a huge difference in expense, and in the winter the distance is a big deal.
