We are mourning the loss of a 21 year old woman  the best friend on my friend's daughter.  She broke down on the highway was on the shoulder well away from traffic. The town truck had just arrived to take her to safety when a 51 year old man drove right into the back if her car at speed the speed limit there is 55 and he was probably exceeding that he never braked. Her car was  destroyed as was the life's of her family and friends.  The same age as my Vixter...

A terrible and totally avoidable tragedy

News like this is always heartbreaking.  My deepest condolences to everyone who is hurting.

My feelings exactly

Today it was Ricky and Boo's chance to meet the new vet for their check up and shots.   Ricky was a basket of nerves, he's the biggest cat I have and the biggest chicken.   The vet tech told me she sometimes cat sits for vet I saw today (she has 5 cats and one of them is on meds).   SOOO, there may be a possibility I can travel a little here and there.   I'm planning to start slowly, a night or two at Thanksgiving or Christmas.

So, good night, one and all.  Full health report in the morning.

I caught Allie nibbling on one of my house plants this morning and chased her back upstairs.  Mary Linda just told me that she (the cat) vomited on the floor before and after breakfast.  Think she learned a lesson?

So the Vixter has picked up another job

She was at the Deals store (she worked there last  year and quit when  the college semester started) and they had a hiring notice up.  There is a new manager there who doesn't know her, but  several of the employees  gave unsolicited recommendations to him as she was filling in the application so he hired her on the spot

I haven't been feeling too well today, but I did climb up on the garage roof to caulk a place where the slate shingles have separated and it looks like water can leak in.  I need to call a roofer to fix it, but so far all the roofers have lengthy waiting periods.  I'm hoping that my caulk job will help until I can do more

What kind of plant was it?  Many of them are poisonous to cats.

No.  We stopped keeping live plants when we had cats, unless the plants were in a room the cats couldn't get into.

Congrats to the Vixter.  How many jobs does this make & how does she have time for all of them?

It's going to be in the 50s tomorrow and then the polar air arrives.  So tomorrow I have to finish my outside jobs to prepare for winter.  I have most of the work done, just need to get some plastic up on a couple of windows where it isn't practical to do it from the inside. There are a few other things I should do, but will be fine if I don't.

Ginny, I buy cat grass every now and then.  You can buy it and grow it yourself.  It's just wheatgrass but cats love it and they say it keeps them from other plants

Mary Linda says Allie is fine.  My spider plant has already been put up high and the ones she tried to eat this morning may have to go to mt Momcave.

It is part of the Dollar Tree family of stores but in addition to the $1 items it  has items up to $20

well technically 4 since she is still employed by the IHOP  but she has been  "on call"  rather than  scheduled so she decided  that she will just go down and speak to the manager  and explain she needed more reliable hours and give back her uniform.

She is back to the same three jobs she held  during the summer of 2013

I think the reason  that there is an unemployment issue is because the Vixter has been hogging all the jobs

So despite her many jobs the Vixter managed to clear enough of her schedule to allow her to take a road trip with me tomorrow right after church
