Watched a highly enjoyable, stylistically movie called "Blues in the Night" far too late last night. Yes, the great Mercer-Arlen song is in it, along with "This Time the Dream's on Me," but it's the combination of musical and film noir that makes it so fascinating to watch. You never know when someone's going to go dancing across a giant keyboard only to fall into an abyss or something equally arresting. It may not work entirely, but it's tight and moves fast. Also, a great cast of character actors, such as Howard Da Silva, Elia Kazan, Jack Carson and Lloyd Nolan, appear in it.
