I shall shortly be on my way to the airport and then on my way home.  Slept exactly one hour - hopefully I'll snooze on the plane.

Here at the airport waiting to board - flight is six-thirty not six.  Could have slept another fifteen minutes :)  Ride to the airport was thirty minutes.  It's raining, but not too bad.  I was "prescreened" this morning - don't know what that means, other than you go right through security - no shoes off, no coat off, just breeze right through.  Love that.

Good morning, all! I had one weird night of dreams but I only remember the last  one: Judy Sherman and I were recording songs with Dean Power, our juvenile on the recording of EILEEN, and the copy of the music was screwed up and I had to call the Library of congress and beg for a copy to be faxes. Then there was a big concern about Dean singing more songs than anyone else on the recording and we asked Eamonn Muilhall to take a couple of them. Then, we were at the Middletown Hospital, and  then I was helping a lady in a wheelchair get to Lopane Avenue, which was around the corner from my family's house in Middletown. I  was very happy when the alarm rang.

And Dean. He's so wonderful on EILEEN, that I wanted to cast him and Eamonn on DEAREST ENEMY, but they were both employed elsewhere.

So, I am off to Toyland. My 17 year-old British student has sent me his second revision of his composition and I need to print it out and take a look. He wants to submit it next week for this event, and I think he should:

Here I am, high in the sky, on my way home.  Late boarding but we still took off right on time.  I asked about upgrading to a Mint seat - on most airlines if there are unsold business or first-class seats they always offer an upgrade at a reasonable cost.  Not JetBlue - to upgrade would have cost more than if I'd booked at the time of booking.  There are five empty seats up there - you'd think they'd rather have some money than no money, but maybe I just got an idiot at the gate.

I was so very happy to see all my lovely dear readers this weekend.  It's been far too long - seeing elmore was wonderful and ChasSmith and Ginny and her ever-lovin' and Ben (missed Ant), and FJL and Skip and KevinH.  I brought Richard Sherman right over to all of them and he enjoyed meeting them all very much.  Hope I'm not forgetting anyone, but with one hour of sleep anything is possible.

Dan Callaway went up on a few lyrics at yesterday's first show in Skip's song.  It happens in every show and he wasn't the only one.  However, at the second show he hit it right out of the park.  I'm hoping we got that performance on tape.

So nice to see Gene Castle's beautiful wife, Jane Actman.  Liz Larsen was amazing - she's just so much fun and in the second show we even got to do a little comedy concerning her inability to understand how the mic stand went up and down - she kept trying to force it and I kept telling her to squeeze the thing on the stand, and she just couldn't do it, so I got up there and demonstrated and she STILL couldn't do it - hilarious.

In the first show last night, as I mentioned in the notes, many in the audience were of an age and clearly did not have a clew as to what we were about, although in the end I think they had a good time.  But there was some kind of negative energy coming from somewhere in the room - everyone in the cast felt it, and that's why a couple of them went up on lyrics.  That kind of thing is palpable.  I felt it the instant I said my first line.

At one point I got irritated by it, but it resulted in the biggest laugh of that show - and it was completely spontaneous.  After Sarah Uriarte Berry sang her song from Light in the Piazza, a completely tuneless thing that makes no musical sense to me on any level with no melody anywhere.  She got a nice hand and then I got up and said, "That song would be great for Name That Tune.  I can name that tune in 903 notes."  Suddenly that quiet crowd was laughing big.  I used the same joke in the second show, where it also got a nice laugh.  I was very loose in the second show and that audience was loud and wonderful.

I loved Sarah's song from INSIDE OUT (was that the show's title?). I didn't know the songs from TIME AND AGAIN, so Dan could have sung anything and I wouldn't have known. I liked what I heard. I really liked the WHAT IF? performers and i kept wondering how much time you actually had with them.

My bad! INSIDE OUT is a Kritzerland release. That's my next order when the social security kicks in.

BK - There were people laughing or making some sort of sounds at wrong times almost from the top, as if they were having a running private conversation having nothing to do with the show.  I wonder if that was that energy you were talking about.  it felt like just two people.
