BK, my observation is that grocery stores are some of the least busy retail establishments on the day after Thanksgiving.

Dear Fellow Haines His Way folks!
Thank you all for the birthday wishes!!

On this Thanksgiving(and my natal day) weekend, I feel grateful for many things, not the least of which is having a  spouse who is French and cooks better than I, and twin daughters who have the love of performing and seeing live theatre/musical theatre as much as dear old Mom.

I want to thank Bruce for inviting us into his world….his Kritzerland books, his marvelous shows, this blog, his favorite coffee shop, the affable and wonderful way he has with kids. Next year he is directing something new, a really different concept, that I am working to produce with him, more to be revealed and very exciting for young performers :-)

I hope you all have a restful rest of your holiday weekend, that yesterday was lovely however you spent it.
Here in LA it was a balmy 80 degrees, I watched the Macys Day parade while cooking.  That was particularly sentimental for me.   In my 20s I lived in NYC and was recruited to be in the Thxgiving parade as a "Babes in Toyland soldier", flanking Phyllis Diller as "Mother Goose".  We marched from 81st and Central Park West down to Macys, with all those surreal inflatables floating overhead and bumping into high rises.  It was bitterly cold and there was a bit of snow/slush, children on the sidelines of the parade scowling because they were cold, hungry, bored or all three, having arrived at 4 a.m. to get a good spot.  Phyllis laughed with us later about how all she could see for blocks were sour-pussed kids, yet we were smiling, waving…..

Yesterday my French husband (the cook!) made the juiciest turkey EVER.  And I made a killer sausage chestnut cream stuffing.  It was a wonderful meal and no one had to be rolled to the car.

Here's hoping your Thanksgiving Day was glorious however you spent it!

Dear Mr. Kimmel, or Guy Haines, whoever is there at this time of day.  Thank you for wishing a happy birthday to Le Chien Fondue!!!  Unfortunately I have no dog at the present time, and certainly not a fondued dog.
But the sentiment is highly appreciated.

For my birthday I would like to hear a rousing redux of your bar mitzvah chanting.  Thank you, no card necessary!

Has anybody  here that  did the Kickstarter for Herringbone hear when our cds will be shipped?

I got an update that he is doing a show of it. But no shipping as of yet. Or in my case a digital download. I believe he is supposed to ask for your address so he can send it.

I thought he was announcing another stage version. I didn't read it that closely

I had a lovlier than lovely dinner yesterday at my friends,' Sharry and Micheal's, house.  (I know all that punctuation is wrong)  Anyway, we had turkey, two kinds of stuffing, two kind of vegetable casseroles, deviled eggs with shrimp, candied yams, rolls, and two kinds of cranberry sauce.  For dessert we all had my pumpkin dessert and coffee.  The woman sitting next to me made one of the cranberry sauces, so she made sure to hand it to me and tell me that she made it.  Now I drink cranberry juice daily, but I do not like cranberries as jelly or as sauce.  And this one was made with oranges and apples, but not sugar.  The bottom line was NO SUGAR!

Recently, my friends Sharry and Micheal attended a celbration of the life of a well-known theater person in Seattle.  I had never met the person, so I did not attend.  It was quite a large turnout of people who truly loved this man, including an old friend who came to Seattle for the celebration.

Sharry and Micheal (one either end) and a friend.

Went to a Half Price Books this morning for the Black Friday rush. Got there 15 minutes early and was not among the 110 first customers to receive a gift bag. But I did find gifts for three people, so I'm glad of that. And a couple of books for myself, of course.

I love leftovers!  I am having a truly scrumptious dinner tonight.  I haven't eaten this well since . . . yesterday.

Jennifer,

Do you have a  London Drugs near you?

I have a London Fog by me.  Well, maybe it is just a good old-fashioned Puget Sound fog.

Good evening.  I am back from running around (but no Black Friday shopping).  Just hauled the trash can down to the road for tomorrow's pickup.  My oh my, it's cold, and it's going down to 13 or thereabouts overnight.  Fortunately, tomorrow brings the beginnings of a warming trend.  A slight warming trend.  But a most welcome one.

Great dinner of Thanksgiving leftovers with my sister and her husband and daughter.  I'm waiting to watch Kristen Chenoweth on PBS.
