TOD: Too much is already happening with a growing number of office parties on top of everything else. But the big focus of the holiday season will be heading for Louisville on Dec. 18. First time I'll be spending Christmas with the folks at the old homestead in 35 years, if my math and memory are correct.

That's a long time.  Have a wonderful Christmas!

I have been out of bed since about 5:30, not because I was rested; but rather because I was having severe leg cramps.  That is usually a side effect of being exhausted.  I will probably have to nap a couple of times today.

Most my life I have been prone to severe leg and foot cramps.  Fortunately they aren't as bad as they used to be.  I discovered it wasn't easy to maneuver through a mosquito bed, without falling, when getting out of bed in the middle of the night to walk out a cramp.

With your difficulties HOW do you work out a cramp?  You have my great sympathy.

So, I packed up some things that need to be delivered to Mom, including some more holiday leftovers and headed out.  When I opened the garage door I could not only see the rain, but I could hear it crunching on the driveway - aka sleet :P.  Came inside, put her stuff back in the fridge, and called to tell her not to expect me today.

I have decided that this December - now that it is December - that my mission will be doing errands for my working friends.....I have let it be known that if anything needs to be picked up or purchased or driven to, I would be glad to do it.....just make sure it's on my schedule in a timely manner.....although I do expect a couple of emergency runs.....

What a great gift for your friends, DR JRand64! I wish you lived in Manhattan.

I arose a little earlier than I planned, but I am off to work after a two month break.

The knee is still not okay, but I maxed out my medical leave and would be losing my health coverage. So I am back.

Mike, does your company allow Shared Leave?  Perhaps there are some fellow employees who would be willing to donate some of their leave?

We're able to do that at my work...the donators can't let their vacation time go below 60 hours, but it's a great option for those who need it.

Oh, and something extra came back to me via the rejected coins bin today:  a square-ish 1945 five-cent piece from Ceylon.  Isn't that interesting?  I have no idea whether it had been with my coins or if the last person might have missed picking it up.  But it's so unusual, and of such fine vintage, that I feel I should do something with it.

I have a glass gallon jug where I put all my spare change (it's about 3/4 full!) and I always look at the coins before I put them in.  I haven't found any foreign coins (except for Canadian) in quite a while, but I've certainly found some old ones.  I've gotten a 1940 nickel, several 1940s pennies, things like that.  I put those in Disney's Big Al bank that I have. :)

Here's a curious thing - I know SAG members have received a ton of screeners recently - I, on the other hand, have received zero from them.  So, I called today and was told that the members who've received them are on the nominating committee and us who aren't won't receive them until after the SAG nominations.  I asked how the nominating committee was chosen and was told it was random.  Now, every single person who, on Facebook, has been posting that they've got them, hence those folks are obviously on the nominating committee, are not what I would, in any sense of the word, call working SAG actors.  One of them, who I know, has NEVER done TV or film - a couple of commercials would be it.  And these are the people they choose for the nominating committee?  No wonder the unions are a joke.  And the DGA screeners still number only three at this point, one of which never arrived to me.

Listening to a new CD by singer B.J. Ward, who I like very much, both as person and singer.  She's interested in us issuing it.  It's movie songs, some from musicals some theme songs.  It's just her and piano.  I'll finish listening then have a conversation.  I like the piano sound fine, but her engineer has done her no favors on her vocal, which is too dry for my taste and does not sound spatially like the piano at all, which is always peculiar to me.  So the question will be how was it recorded and is she thrilled with the sound - if the answer is yes, then I don't think I'll want to issue it.  It would be a tough sell anyway.

Good afternoon. There were hardly any birds out today on my birding trip. But my Big Worry thing that I haven't told anyone about is going to be ok, apparently.

Last night was a night of celebrity dreams.  It's all vague now, but  I believe that I dreamed I was orchestrating a BK album of material for the men he uses in his Kritzerland shows, but all I remember now is that Jason Graae was one of the singers and I was trying to assemble an invoice and copy the band parts.

A dream starring Jason Graae should have been very funny.

Good morning, all, and mary, marry, merry Monday.

Vibes for DRs TCB and Mike.

Thanks John.  We used to have a running battle over those words after I said that where I live, all three words are pronounced exactly the same.

Same thing I do DR GINNY.......when I was working I used to be amazed at the number of OLDER people.....now MY age....who were doing their shopping, Post Office and banking chores, in the late afternoon after I got off work....

Now 9 a.m. - 2 p.m. is my store/bank/Post Office time....barring emergencies of course.

Lunch hour is the worst time.  After work, if you have to wait, at least you won't get in trouble for being late getting back.  But during lunch, not good.

Listening to CDs this day.  So behind on stuff I have to listen to - stuff people need to hear about.  I'm hoping that in December I can really get all this stuff listened to so I can send responses.

DR Jane I finished that book by Maggie Stiefvater that you were asking me about (book 3).  Don't read my review though cause it has spoilers from book two, which I dot' think you have read.

If I lived in Manhattan DR ELMORE - I would spend most of my time lost.

You'd call me and I'd help you out.

I finally heard from Joshie and we are on for Lincoln Center at 12:30 tomorrow.  I am on the huge Act One deMille dance for the cowboys and whores who have just arrived by coach.  If I were the copyist on this number, I would have completed the copy work and then killed the orchestrator, a Mr Goehr notTed Royal. The score is jammed with to many bars per page, laid out really poorly, and it's a nightmare getting through it.

I must say I cannot wait to hear Trude Rittman's dance arrangement but it might actually be by Frederick Loewe. She told me that on BRIGADOON and ONE TOUCH OF VENUS she laid our the dance rhythms and Loewe andKurt Weill composed the music themselves to her rhythms.  She said that by MY FAiR LADY, Loewe trusted her, but i never asked her about PAINT YOUR WAGON.  Damn!

DR Ginny I hope you can take the leftovers to your mother tomorrow.

Time will tell, DR Jane, because freezing rain is predicted from 4am to 1pm.  I'm supposed to go to Dayton for lunch with the grantwriters, but I won't take any chances.  I told Mom today I probably wouldn't be out to see her until Wednesday.
