I like the Rodgers and Hammerstein traditional song How Do You Solve an Ave Like Maria.

I'd give that five groans out of five, if groaning were allowed on HHW.   :)

Oh, I dunno.  If she were also hand-copying all of Mozart's scores, then I might have been more impressed.

Well that part goes without saying!

Best Buy makes it difficult to make a purchase sometimes. I've got an appointment later this evening so I will go to a different Best Buy before I go to see if I can get the tablet I've been trying to get since yesterday. They still have the sale price but at the store yesterday there were no tablets and no interest in seeing if more tablets existed in the back store room. If they had made an effort they would have taken in over $300 (from a gift card) but since they can't be bothered if I can't do it tonight, I'll try Staples tomorrow.

For a company trying to save itself from extinction, they sure know how to be their own worst enemy.

I love the movie MATINEE......takes place in a Florida town during the missile crisis....and there is a panic in the grocery store......

MAN: (frantically) There's no more shredded wheat!

MANAGER: No!

MAN: Don't you have anymore in the back!!!!??

MANAGER: No, I don't have anymore in the back.  Some of you are just going to have to face the possibility of atomic destruction without any G.D. shredded wheat!!!

TOD:

For me, it's more about the singing and the arrangement than the song itself.

For that reason, "This Christmas" is an ideal album, and I'm not just saying that.  I also like me some Bing Crosby, Frank Sinatra, Julie London (wait, do I have any Christmas singing of hers? I'll have to look), and surely others who I'm brain dead on thinking of right now.  I find the "Christmas Cocktails" types of albums great for the lighthearted and novel arrangements.

Yesterday I watched HAVE ROCKET WILL TRAVEL.  I don't know why I love that movie so much.  It is really stupid, but I always enjoy it.

I must remember to tell Vixmom NOT to ever watch it.  I had forgotten that when the Stooges get to Venus, they get chased around the planet by a fire-breathing "S" word.

I'm up again - guess I slept another two hours, so maybe five hours all told.  I think when I get home from the meeting I may just get back in bed.

The big predicted storm is here.  I'd say there are some droplets falling right now and it is gray.

Gee, guess I could have gotten another thirty minutes of sleep, since the visitor has still not arrived.  Rain is really coming down in droplets now, one drop every five seconds or so.  STORM WATCH 2014!!!!!!!!!!

Gee, guess I could have gotten another HOUR of sleep, since the visitor has still not arrived.  Had he arrived at ten I could have gotten back in bed.  If he's not here in fifteen minutes I will be on my way to The Smoke House.

Gee, guess I could have gotten another NINETY minutes of sleep, since the visitor is obviously not coming - with nary a text or a peep - extremely rude.  So, sorry, chum, it will now have to be next week.  Oh, well.  Shortly I shall be on my way to The Smoke House for a combination of good foodstuffs.

Apparently the visitor visit was supposed to be tomorrow.  I am officially senile.  Then I went to the motor car - battery dead as a doornail.  I called the dealer, who put a new battery in a little over a year ago, so it's still under warranty.  I told them I could not get towed that far and would replace it here and they'd have to reimburse - they asked me to wait, so there's a possibility that they'll come here with a new battery.  Then I'll take the car in on Friday and get a loaner so they can thoroughly check out why a battery would go bad (the second time it's happened) in that short a period of time.  They're supposed to call me.  Meantime, the noon lunch meeting is now a bit later and they're coming here to get me and I guess we'll go to the restaurant I was trying like HELL to avoid - Jerry's.  I'm so sick of it but it's convenient.  I really wanted The Smoke House today.  Maybe I'll just have a cup of soup and then make Wacky Noodles later - maybe not.  Irritating, this entire morning and all I want now is to go back to bed - that will depend on the battery situation and whether they come here or I have to get jumped so I can go to the service station nearby.  Of course it's now really raining so all this becomes even more irritating.

No, truck is still there.  Maybe he's moved in with them.  And he's parked in such a way that there's no way to get into the space between his truck and one of their other cars that's been there for a year.  That one they move every now and then.

Thanks for the feel better vibes DR Jeanne.  I feel fine unless I'm coughing or blowing my nose ;)

I sent an email to our friends that are arriving later in the week and warned them.  I doubt they will cancel but thought they should know.

Between the Black Friday, Cyber Monday, and now the Giving Tuesday emails, I've half a mind to tell the whole damned internet to go to hell.

From DR Cilla:
Quote
I don't like the idea that you're taking a show based on a specific comic strip and a different time and modernizing it but still calling it the same thing.  It isn't the same thing. Why hijack someone else's creativity? Why not create a new story or modernize it but don't still call it Annie and use the same songs.   i don't even want to get started on this or I'll get really politically incorrect.  I just wish people would either stick to the original concept and script or make up their own story.

I feel the same way regarding novels that hijack a classic and write a newish story with one the characters in the original.  I know others like it but I don't.

That's one HECK of a morning, BK.

Not to mention, I always enjoy a Smoke House report.
