Did I mention we're doing a songbook of my stuff?  We are.  All the songs on Sandy's album plus Simply and This Christmas - seventeen songs in all.  I'm very excited about it.  The guy is already at work creating the piano/vocal music, which is not going to be difficult thanks to really good piano/vocal Finale files from Lanny.  Just deciding on the cover now.

Do you believe everything you see?

Damn it to hell.

I just ate two little things of candy (Mr. Goodbar and Reese's PB Cup miniatures) and now I want more.

Late bird here replying to Bruce's most recent entry.  No worm at all!

PETER PAN, my most favorite show as a child!  Discovered first at Disneyland as a wee thing.   Remember seeing Tinker Bell fly through the sky over the Magic Castle --- that was it, I was smitten by the story.

Then came reading the book, then saw the musical with MARY MARTIN at that theatre in the round in Woodland Hills--- I think?  When she started flying around --- live --- it was pure magic.  When she sang "I've Gotta Crow", I thought she was a real boy!
Of course there was the Disney animated version, which was not nearly as fun as the live musical.
Then HOOK---- err, no comment.
The last time round was seeing HENRY WINKLER in a "panto" version of Peter Pan in London, with our twins when they were little tykes.   He played a schmaltzy Captain Hook, but reveled in it, the production is very irreverent, but great fun.

Nope you didn't see Mary Martin at Valley Music Theater.  I am a fountain of knowledge and can tell you you saw Janet Blair as Peter, and even better, Vincent Price as Captain Hook.

I daren't contradict the fount of knowledge!
Yes I do remember Vincent Price as Hook…. he was very dashing.  Valley Musical Theatre was fantastic---- my first experience seeing theater in the round, and we were up close.  Somehow I don't remember focussing on the wires at all.  Peter really flew, and that was that.
It was Christmastime, it was chilly out, the light was low in the sky, bare trees, and the drive from West Hollywood seemed very far.  Those were the days  you got dressed up to see the theatre, and the show programs were huge, heavyweight and collectible.

I saw Call Me Madam there with Ethel Merman and Russell Nype, and I also saw Medea (yes, Virginia, they did MEDEA) with Judith Anderson and Marian Seldes.  When I was recording Elegies, I was introduced to Miss Seldes, who was in it, and I told her I'd seen her do that in the round.  She threw her head back and laughed and said, "I never knew where I was in that stupid place - it was ROUND!"
