Dinner here is going to be some leftover sausage and peppers combined with some leftover chicken cacciatore.

Happy Sunday and Happy New Year to all of you!  The newest edition of The Broadway Radio Show is now up for your listening pleasure and it's time, once again, for the year-end review of my Top Ten Favorite Cast Recordings of 2014.  I'll also feature selections from my 3 favorite vocalist recordings from the past year.  Give it a listen and then let me know what your choices would be!

Sunday afternoon greetings!  Today is our Christmas with Rob and Mary Linda, which started with the 10:30am service at their church.  When we got home, they put potatoes in their oven and I set the dining room table, from which we can see their Christmas tree.  Then we gathered around our tree in the family room to open presents.  When the potatoes were nearly done I broiled the bacon-wrapped filets and nuked some broccoli.  We opened a bottle of Christmas Red and warmed it, as advised on the label.  Dinner was delightful and for dessert we munched on cookies from Central Pastry in Middletown, fruitcake from Gethsemani Monastery in Kentucky, and homemade assorted chocolates from Mary Linda's grandmother's kitchen in Michigan.

I want a piece of fruitcake.

Well, I am logged on from my computer and it's definitely an invalid, but it's up and running. Just.

My Man Man is fantastic, and he had to repair the hard drive. Once that was accomplished, everything we feared lost on my computer was actually saved, so he did not have to erase everything and rebuild my computer from my Dec 6 backup.  The problem was, no matter what he tried, my computer would not connect with the internet. We knew the internet was working because the Macbook was chirping merrily away but the Bb Mamma just sat there like so much dead stinky fish . . .  What to do.

So, he was ready to leave r come back tomorrow and try again, when he had an idea: maybe it was a plug-in problem. He found it on the Firefox brwser, deleted both the plug-in and then the Firefox browser, and suddenly I was back online.

My instructions are to keep track of any computer oddities or peculiar happenings this week, and he's coming by on Friday to see how things are going.  It's so nice to be back online.

I wonder what will happen on THE COMEBACK tonight?  Is anyone else watching?  I really like the show, but it is not very popular with the populace.

Valerie Cherish has been nominated for an Emmy Award.....but I really don't know if she will win.....winning would be the best and the worst thing that could happen to her.

In September of 2005, I posted this:
----------------------------
Quote from: bk on September 04, 2005, 02:45:09 PM

All right, where in tarnation IS everyone?

I have been busy bonding with a troubled teen.

A new attendee at our church brought her teenage grandson (who lives at The Home For Incorigible Teenagers) to church with her this morning. He was rather sullen when he arrived. I knew from the grandmother that he was being trained in desert horticulture at The Home For Incorigible Teenagers, so I asked him about some of our plants that are struggling. We made the rounds around the property and he offered advice. After the service, he came to me and said that some of our cacti were planted too deep and that he would like to dig them up and replant. So after changing into grubby clothes, we went back and he spent the afternoon replanting and then digging holes with a pick to plant some of the things that still were waiting to be planted. Then he offered to come tomorrow morning at 6 am to finish the rest. This from an incorigible teenager, who seems like a pretty swell kid to me.  His grandmother said she hadn't seen him smile so big in quite a long time.

And that is why I was gone all day.
-------------------------
The sullen teen has grown up. With the love and support of the church people, he turned his life around and made good. He moved up to Flagstaff, but whenever he is in town to visit his grandma, he sits with me in the soundbooth at church.

I ask you to keep him in your prayers. He is an officer at the jail, and the officer who was killed yesterday was a friend and colleague of his. He is pretty shook up. He also "knew" the suspect, since he had been jailed a few times for beating up his wife.

DR Chas, it sounds like you have what I've had all week. Mine comes and goes, but has never gotten beyond the minor stage. Given how sick many people have been recently, I consider myself quite fortunate. Vibes yours leaves quickly.

Toward the end of each year I am always in the mood to toss, declutter, cull. This year is no exception. I'm making progress, but there is much to do. About a month ago I FILLED a large trash can with paper--old catalogs and files. I need to do that again. I'll try to do some each day this coming week.

Larry, I want your Mac Man! I wish he were closer. The last guy I tried was a dud.

I'm glad to hear that your computer is up and running again and that you didn't lose any files. I'm also glad you have a back-up computer, even if you don't like it. Have you asked your Mac Man if he can adjust the font size? I have a Macbook, but I haven't played with the settings enough to know if this is possible.

I, too, enjoyed Elmore's thoughts on IT MIGHT BE FUN. And, yes, it's interesting to read reviews and such from those who know what they're talking about.
