Holy crap!  My Medicare premium has risen 38% for 2015, and it really pisses me off. Social security certainly isn't raising my benefits but Empire Health is clearly saying to those of us on fixed income, Screw You.

I hope the bastards rot in hell.  At the rate they're going, i should be paying the $600/month i was paying before age 66 in another 2-3 years.  It's going to be cheaper to die.

If I didn't love the subject of Big Eyes the line "from the visionary director" would keep me far away.

Back from my doctor's appointment with 2 prescription refills and a referral to an ear/nose/throat doctor about my buzzing ear - which is what I wanted.

Hello everyone!

I hope you have all been enjoying the holidays!

I wanted to drop in and say hello to you all!  DR FJL told me that there were some birthday greetings left here for me, and I want to thank all of you who thought of me yesterday, and everyone who sought me out on Facebook and also posted greetings for me there.  Thank you all!!

It has been a busy year.  I'm still doing a lot of work for MAC.  We've instituted a new series of open mics that we run for our members that travel among our various member nightclubs, and we've instituted a new series of educational seminars.  We've also presented a large event that honored songwriters during November -  we had people including Amanda Green and Georgia Stitt as part of the show, presenting some of their original work.  The show went great, but unfortunately, was the same weekend as BK's Kritzerland in NY shows, so I was very disappointed not to be able to attend BK's shows that weekend and get to see you all then, but I heard they were absolutely wonderful, and I'm hoping there will be another opportunity in the future to see more BK shows in NY.

I got to spend an extended Thanksgiving visit with my parents and other relatives in Florida, and got to spend some time with other relatives in NY over Christmas. Family is the best!!

I wish all of you a very happy and healthy new year, and a rockin' HHW new year's eve partay!  Best wishes to you all!

Your E&T  DR Julie

There probably won't be anymore Kritzerland shows in NY unless something drastically changes about NY's cabaret scene, which won't happen - for exactly the reason Julie states - there is simply too much cabaret going on, with five or six events competing with each other - in our case it seemed like even more that weekend.  Liz Callaway was going to be our guest star on Sunday but dropped out because her long-time musical director did an evening of his songs at 54 Below - she could have still done the early show, but alas, didn't.  It was fine - we lucked out with another fabulously talented Liz, namely Larsen.  But it was just too hard to fill a room that should have been filled easily.  We were ultimately happy with our audience size and the shows did go very well - but I can't go through that kind of thing on a regular basis.  IF my pal Gene Castle, who books The Triad, can come up with a way to make it all work smoother, then maybe.

Well, the one good piece of news is that Time Warner had a free spot at 4:00 today and I should be getting the new modem and a technician to set me up. I'm hoping that solves a lot of issues.

Thank you for keeping Jason in your thoughts and prayers. I think the realization of how dangerous these jobs are has hit home. There has only been one other office killed in the line of duty up there.

JRand, I am glad you remember that post. We could easily have lost this young man and he could have ended up on the other side of the law. I am so very very proud of him.

Greetings from Boston's Logan Airport.  I normally take nonstop US Airways or Southwest flights from Buffalo but I'm taking JetBlue this time and had to change planes here.  If I had taken the nonstop on US Airways it would have cost $142 more.

"Visionary director...."

I feel the same way.  I guess we're just lucky Helena Bonham Carter (the soon to be EX Mrs. T. Burton) didn't "audition" for the part of Margaret Keane and "win" it over Amy Adams because of her great "talent" and "range."   :P

Good luck DR GINNY!

Gingko biloba is sometimes suggested....but that is more for a "ringing" in the ears.

Coasting along, and the internet vanished for about an hour.  I need to land a job, make some money, buy a new computer, and relax.

Maybe I'll flap my arms and fly to the moon as well.

What the hell!!?

This must be a supplemental plan by Empire, because the basic Medicare $105 didn't go up at all.

But again I ask, What the hell!!?

Money vibes headed your way DR ELMORE.

My healthcare subsidy was reduced almost one hundred dollars this time around, still can't figure out why - I made LESS money this year.

So I had to go with a plan with a higher deductible....almost $5000....and much larger co-pays.  I will be 65 in August and eligible for Medicare, so I will have to drop that insurance and go with a plan like you have.....and pay for it myself.....so I am not looking forward to that....or the deduction from my Social Security check.....

Mary Linda and I went out to lunch at Chipotle and yarn shopping at Michael's.  I'm going to try a baby hat to determine if I can commit to a heart health awareness project for a friend in Cincinnati.  Also bought some pretty blue and white yarn for a blanket for DN Lauren's baby - due in May.

TOD:

Birdman
Theory of everything
Snowpiercer

(They were all I saw in the theater and enjoyed them in that order.)

Also loved a lot of Grand Budapest Hotel on DVD.

The Time Warner technician has come and gone.  No new modem, however; once again I'm told the problem is not in the modem.  At the moment everything's running and bubbling right along. Let's hope it stays that way.

Back from the meeting and breakfast.  We went to some dive about ten minutes from here in a strip mall.  Jammed.  People waiting outside.  Nowhere to park.  And mediocre food.  The Valley is an awesome place for idiots.
