DR Jane, it's the chocolate Tootsie Pops I'm always looking for.  I usually find them in gas station convenience stores, airports, etc.  I found something yesterday that reminded me of you, too.  Kenwood Towne Center now has a See's Candies and they have the little hard candies like you brought me in April.  I bought 2 boxes of the chocolate ones.

I just finished watching the last two episodes of "Finding Your Roots" that I had recorded back in November.  It's a fascinating show.  I hope that they bring it back for another season.

To me the Little Pops are better than Totsie Roll Pops, though I almost always eat the cafe latte ones.

Managed to get an hour of swimming in, but the wind was brutal. You just wanted to stay right under the surface, the only warm part of the water.

Done about eight pages and am ready for the second movie.  I'm thinking about making a half order of Wacky Noodles, just because I don't really want to go out - it's been raining here most of the afternoon.  Yes, if I can restrain myself from making the whole box, that would only be six ounces of pasta and that's pretty good, calorie-wise.

I am on Day 4 of the flu. I made good progress with it at first, but now seem to have relapsed, due to a poor night's sleep. Maybe tomorrow will be better. I'm dying for a shower.

Back from lunch at this place:

http://www.wharfrestaurant.com/index.html

Since I'm a vegetarian they fixed a delicious pasta primavera (that wasn't on the menu).

Kevin, very nice of them to do the pasta primavera. Ecco used to do one that was to die for, back in its heyday. Such a shame how Ecco declined after it was sold. I used to eat there frequently, despite the usual hour-long wait. I still miss their food. I wonder if the Wharf uses Ecco's recipe? (The two restaurants are right around the corner from one another.)

How many secret vegetarians do we have on this here site?

Secret? We're not keeping it secret. It's just that the only vegetarian that people remember is Jane.

Kevin, former DR Jeffrey Kaufmann, George's sister and niece, myself. Did I miss anyone?

DR John, you really are devoted to swimming.  That does not sound like fun to me.

Hadn't been since June. And my friend Carol was staying in the pool for an hour, so I sort of had to.

So, here are a couple of John's oems in that collection; I should have read them more carefully; they don't have his old sense of whimsy and humor.  He was clearly troubled:
1.
Each morning I stand
Little blue pills in my hand
Get me through the day
Then the shadows come to stay
And nothing drives them away

2.
Where are my pain pills?
I can’t take it any more
Here they are, thank God
How many will do the trick?
Let’s see .  .  .  fifty should do it
