Yes, I'm still up at two-thirty.  Why is that?  Because after I got in bed I realized there was a much better way to write a little sequence at the end, so I got up, nuked in its entirety the sequence I'd written and I completely rewrote it.  MUCH better now.  I'm sure there will be a bit more of that kind of thing tomorrow while I'm futzing and finessing.

Good morning, all.

First!

And not even out of bed yet.  But awake.  Well, I guess that's obvious.  Or maybe it isn't.  Who am I to say?  But I have a huge day today, because tomorrow at this time we leave for the Sunshine State.  Oy!

Coffee!

I saw one show with tracks. I saw it with two friends who didn't realize it. They thought the band was offstage.

Spoke with the doctor yesterday we will not be attempting a second try at the infusion test. There is another possibility which if it happens I'll let you all know.

Good morning, all!  I am happy about a new Adriana Hofstetter book.

I will shortly head down to Toyland and finish off the first edit of Act One of the Moross show.  I moved today's therapy to tomorrow morning. My life gets too crazy running from the Upper west Side to Chelsea via bus in rush hour, and then coming back uptown later than I'd like. When I get home, I have the encores! work waiting for me.

I always confuse Mrs Henderson Presents and Miss Pettigrew Lives For A Day, and I lke them both. Maybe I'll watch them this weekend.

TOD:

I had read some time ago that there was a system whereby pre-recorded tracks could still be controlled by a "conductor," tapping out the tempo on a controller. I don't know what technology is used, and I suppose the tracks would have to be recorded using some proprietary system.
But at least that would provide more control in a live performance setting.

TOD:  from the perspective of a picky viewer, recorded music somehow saps some of the life out of a performance. The singer is not in charge, the tape machine is.

But I understand the practicality of having to do it.

Tuesday morning greetings!  Today I have some shopping to do for Mom.  She was not in the best mood when I talked to her on the phone yesterday, so who knows what I'll find when I get there...

Sorry to hear about the passing of your friend DR VIXMOM.....it was very thoughtful that you were told about the wake BEFORE it was held.

I have done two shows with tracks.....no three.

They have never been a problem.  Having a good technician helps to make sure the volume is correct and that it starts at the right time.

Well there was a problem just once.  The tracks for ROCKY HORROR SHOW were on tape.  We had a matinee......at the evening performance, all of us were standing along the wall on the theatre steps waiting to begin "Science Fiction Double Feature" and the music we heard were the last few notes of the bows.  The guy had forgotten to rewind the tape during the break....so we stood a minute or so, while he ran the tape back to the beginning.

Now with computers....that kind of thing wouldn't happen.

Did the host of the party have to pay money for the kid to come, so that the host was actually out the money because the kid didn't show up?

Who should bear the loss - the host of the party, or the parents who didn't decide to let the host know so that the host could cancel the ticket?

Obviously it's pretty weird to put an invoice in the child's backpack. But it was some sort of ski trip and obviously the birthday kid's parents had to pay for the kid who did not show up. IMO it was completely inconsiderate of the parents to RSVP yes and then not show up without calling.  When you have a birthday party you always wait for everyone to show up. That kid could have held up the whole party when he was never even going.

That's what I love about my Kindle...I never turn on the wi-fi, so it never syncs up with my account, so the books on my Kindle will stay there forever...well, they have so far.  It's probably been more than two years since I turned on the wifi.

Well how can you ever get new books if you don't turn on the wifi?   That wouldn't really seem practical to me.  But if I wanted to keep a loaned book for an extra day it would work.
