The Pacific Northwest Ballet in Seattle has been heavily advertising their production of DON QUIXOTE.  Now, I have never seen that ballet, but I do know that both Nureyev and Mikhail Baryshnikov have donaced a ballet by that name.  So, what confuses me is that the PNB prodcution stars Tom Skerritt as Don Quixote.  Mr. Skerritt is a fine actor, but a ballet dancer?  I don't think so.

I was wondering about that. :-\ It's not like they're doing Man of La Mancha and they've separated the Cervantes role from Don Quixote role and cast two people (which I've never heard of and wouldn't want to).

Don Quixte in the ballet is a character role.  The principal male dancer is a romantic role.  Baryshnikov and Nureyev did not play Quixote.

I can't believe what I did to myself. I hardly go out anymore socially because come evening I am in pain. So tomorrow I overbooked myself with two different friends. With one I am going to a late morning movie and then lunch. I take a break then I am going for dinner and another movie.

I can't bring myself to cancel as I haven't seen them in a while and I have already bought the movie tickets.

I'll let you know if I survive. :-)

I think the gulf between the twenty-somethings and me is growing wider.

I stopped at the bank today. The teller was a young female, who appeared to be chewing gum and had the most lackadaisical attitude possible. I needed to deposit a check, get some cash, and begone. A 5-minute transaction, one would think. She was very slow. "How's your day going?" she asked. I wanted to say, "Fine until I encountered you," but held my tongue. "Fine." A few minutes later, "Do you have plans for the weekend?" I suspect that this is, in her mind, being friendly, but I neither know her nor wish to. Why would I discuss anything of a personal nature with someone I don't know?

I'm convinced that I'm the last person on Earth with a sense of privacy. I do often chat with the cashiers at Trader Joe's and the waitstaff at various eateries, but at the bank I wish to conduct my business and leave. I would think that many people feel the same.

Do twenty-somethings bond with everyone they meet, instant BFF? If someone has an explanation, please fill me in.

Maybe I'm just becoming Maggie Smith.

Larry, thanks for your concern about my health. I'm feeling better, over the flu, eating normally, and such. Trying to catch up on life's mundanities (read laundry, errands, etc), but that's a different  problem.

Oh goodness no, I will put them in a postal envelope and mail them priority.  I should warn you, so you can change your mind, they are old and a bit musty.

Thank you for the fed-x offer.

LOL, aren't we all becoming Maggie Smith or maybe have been all along.

I get more frustrated at who is training these people.  I'm shocked gum chomping is permitted.  It is one of my pet peeves.  Until I developed TMJ I was a big gum chewer, however, when talking to people I stuck it on the roof of my mouth.

As for asking if you have plans I suppose she was trying to be friendly, but again usually service people ask that when they know you a bit better.  I have also found they ask that because they want to be asked in return as they are doing something exciting.
