I like to talk to the people at the register if it's someplace I go all the time.  It does encourage them to be friendly....and I have heard some interesting things.

I know three of the tellers at my bank.....two of them are friendly....one of them is not.  They move around at the drive-thru windows, so I don't know which one I get until the screen comes on.....

Had a fun and productive rehearsal - got close to the end of act one - about eight to ten more pages.  Staged one difficult scene and one bigger number so got those out of the way.  I'll talk about how I'm directing this show in the notes tomorrow - I decided early on how I would do this one, and it's something I've never really done before and while some of the actors might be confused by it, a couple of them totally "got" what I was doing and are enjoying it.  And it's working even if some of the cast thinks I'm not very good.  In the end they will definitely know there was a method to what I'm doing.  They may not acknowledge it, but the proof will be on the stage.

Then I came home and wrote another third of the commentary and worked on the little song.

I think the gulf between the twenty-somethings and me is growing wider.

I stopped at the bank today. The teller was a young female, who appeared to be chewing gum and had the most lackadaisical attitude possible. I needed to deposit a check, get some cash, and begone. A 5-minute transaction, one would think. She was very slow. "How's your day going?" she asked. I wanted to say, "Fine until I encountered you," but held my tongue. "Fine." A few minutes later, "Do you have plans for the weekend?" I suspect that this is, in her mind, being friendly, but I neither know her nor wish to. Why would I discuss anything of a personal nature with someone I don't know?

I'm convinced that I'm the last person on Earth with a sense of privacy. I do often chat with the cashiers at Trader Joe's and the waitstaff at various eateries, but at the bank I wish to conduct my business and leave. I would think that many people feel the same.

Do twenty-somethings bond with everyone they meet, instant BFF? If someone has an explanation, please fill me in.

Maybe I'm just becoming Maggie Smith.

Use the bank machine. :)

It seems overly friendly. But I'm sure she was just trying to be nice.

I've ketchuped, so am at least up to date with what's going on with everybody.

Wish I had something brilliant to say.  Too beat, I'm afraid.

Having a very fine time, thank you!

I wish I could say there will be a chance to meet up with the Vixfolks.  I doubt our schedule will permit it, but what a fine thing that would be.

If you wave at each other as you pass on the highway, it is considered a mini-HHW gathering.
