Damn!  The cheapest new copy of that version of BRIGADOON is $39.50.  I don't always trust getting used copies from strangers.

Hey Elmore, the reviewer,  noticed that Feed the Birds had more passion and a much different orchestration than Julie Andrews version.   From him, I'd take that as a compliment, it was beautiful

Night TCB - I'm watching Saturday night live...it's from 1975, not sure if it's the first episode, but it's the original cast

I think it's the first episode.  I'm watching it now.  I didn't know that George Coe (who was in Sondheim and Firth's Company) was in this episode and billed as one of the Not Ready For Prime Time Players.

Early this afternoon, I went to work for a few hours to make up some time and to get some invoicing done.  This coming week is the cut-off to pay this month's bills.

After that, I ushered at the Washington Center for the Performing Arts.  They had a comedy night.  Jubal Flagg was the headliner.  I'd never heard of him.  There were three other comedians before he came on.

For me, they were all really hit and miss...more miss than hit. :-\ And to several other ushers that I spoke with, all miss and no hit.

However, the theater was filled.  Sold out, actually, so people evidently really love them, but I didn't.

I did sell t-shirts after the show (there was no intermission).  The only issue was that we volunteers were told that the evening would be two hours, straight through with no intermission.  However, with the three comedians before the headliner, it turned out that the whole evening was two and a half hours with no intermission!

They could've EASILY added a break after the first three guys went, and before the headliner.  They really should've done that.  Oh, well.  People came and went as they needed.

Six years ago, on Feb. 14, 2009, John McGlinn's body was discovered when the police broke into his apartment. He had died from a heart attack several days earlier, but the actual time of death is unknown.  Since then, I doubt there's not a day that passes without my mentioning or thinking of John; I cataloged his estate, and until last year I worked in an office surrounded by his scores, books, orchestra parts, and manuscripts.

I've said much ill about him and most likely will continue, and yet I owe much of my career to him. Until the Big Blowout of 2002, when he blamed Robert Kimball and me for his deserved removal from a project, we  were friends. It was a strange friendship, because he had a stunted and extremely limited view of what friendship was. He probably considered me a better friend than I did him because negotiating John's megalomania, treachery, and manipulations were not always fun. For him, a good friend was someone on whose shoulder he could cry about his love life or allow him to talk about himself for hours. Occasionally the conversations were two-sided, like when he'd call and we'd start casting a concert or album together.  Last year's release of ROBERTA was the end of something we'd cast for EMI around 1988 and never happened.

Still, in the 1980s, working on SHOWBOAT, the Danbury Concert, the Book of the Month Club, dealing with diva Kiri Te Kanawa, and sitting in the Carnegie Recital Hall and letting him know when the band was too loud are some of my most cherished memories.  Thank you, John!  I will listen to one of your CDs today and mourn you.

That's a very nice tribute, Larry.  I have enjoyed many of his recordings over the years.

Saturday morning greetings!  I lost all of yesterday to a stomach bug that hit Rob even harder.  Richard spent the day nursing both of us and shopping for Jello and Gatorade.  Better today but not setting the world on fire...

I just had a request from our DR ChasSmith:
If you are by any chance one of those able to connect, please tell them I can no longer get a single page to load on either HHW or Kritzerland.  The sites are effectively hosed.  But maybe it's still only for some and not others.  Cilla's access was fine yesterday evening, as though nothing was amiss.  Anyhoo, let me know if there's anything to know, and I'll try later today.  Thanks, and may your lottery tickets be winners!

I was having problems like this last night and got fed up, so I just turned off my computer.  Everything has been fine tonight...so far.

I am not having any problems on HHW. What browser are they using.

Last night, I tried to get to HHW on three different browsers (Firefox, IE and Chrome) and had trouble with every one.

I woke up and felt fine. Then I did a puzzle in the tv guide. It was one of those ones where there is a maze. And for some reason when I was done I was seeing almost double.  Soon after my head started to hurt. But it was very slight so I took 2 Advil.

But soon after my head started to hurt a lot more. I have a prescription for migraines (which i get rarely). But i was not sure how soon i could take the pills after taking the advil.  I ended up taking them 2 hours later. It is a lot better but still not fine.  But for some reason in the dark the computer screen is not bothering me.

I was going to watch Gone Girl on dvd and read. But i think I will have to wait until later. :(

On the up side I won 2 amazon gift cards today. Woohoo!!

Hope that your head feels much better!  And congrats on winning the gift cards!

Our dog Liam seems to be doing extremely well.  This is my first full day with him here, since I'd been at the tax office every other day since he joined us.

Great news!  Congrats on your new addition!

If I ever mention to you that I'm going to do gardening, tell me to forget it, mix a drink and do something I'm qualified for.

I was attempting to remove an unwanted volunteer tree when my butt backed into a window. Window broke and a shard cut the back of my leg.

Trip to the ER was fun as they're tearing up the road out front and redirecting traffic a long way around.

I'm okay but embarrassed.

Yikes!!

I have always hated Valentine's Day.

I never specifically hated the holiday, but even when I had a boyfriend, it was never an important day for us.  The long distance aspect of our relationship made everything difficult.

Hello all.  Just a quick report of some theatre I saw in the area the last two nights.  Last night I saw the play Maple and Vine  I believe it played off-broadway in the last few years.  I liked the concept quite a bit.  I could relate in a way, I suppose - wanting to live a simpler life in simpler times.  It's a good play.

Tonight I saw Curtains which I now believe is one of my top 3 favorite musicals of all time.  I think it's clever, fun and a real throw back to the "old" musical.  It was great to see it with a full orchestra, also.  When I did it in 2011, we had a small band,  I don't remember much of that time, it was the summer from "hell"  for me.

Today (February 14) is the birthday of Alexis, the daughter of my friend Margo.  Alexis is the one who did the cabaret show last week in Portland.
