Nothing wrong with a little whoring now and then, DR Elmore.

We all whore.

We must embrace our whoredom.

At least we are whores with ... hearts of gold!!      :)

All?  Here on HHW?  Not all.

Thursday morning greetings!  The snowstorm just grazed us and the 10-day forecast is very promising - sun with temps in the 40s and 50s.  I'll take it!

Back to beef stroganoff - I, too, have a more elaborate (and probably more authentic) recipe.  It takes me all day to make it and my family doesn't like the result any better than the quickie version I posted last night.

And, DR TCB, I don't see why plain water wouldn't work as well as sherry.  You just need the cup of liquid to create the gravy.

Good morning, all.

Heart of some shiny metal, but I get distracted too easily to see if it's tin or merely recycled aluminum.

My friends Bill and Laurie, who now live in Dayton, have a framed poster of Deadline USA in their home. This, of course, because of the journalism ties. Somehow, he's still working for a newspaper.

I think I've gotten that folly out of my system. I'm too old for that now.

DR TCB - I use a free program called AUDACITY.....you can record and edit music files.

Just find your microphone input - or your computer might have a built-in microphone....

You can also download and edit any music file you like.....also clean up files that have problems.

It has a learning curve....but it works like a charm.  If I need to change the file format, I use Format Factory....which is also free.

Duck vibes for DR ELMORE.....think about how your arrangements will cheer up the people who lost all their money in the casino....not to mention those who couldn't get into PENN & TELLER or other shows.   :D

Thanks, but i doubt it.  I'm guessing it will be scored for some sort of bluegrass ensemble, but I know I won't be looking at anything in the Russell Bennett neighborhood.

DR JRand65, I am not arranging, simply proofreading the copy from scores by an orchestrator who wrks generally on rock shows and small klezmer-like groups.  there will be several guiars, I'm guessing, and a lot of chord symbols.

Could something like apple juice (or cider?) or white grape juice also work as a substitute for something like this?

Speaking of great coffee mugs, I have the all time winner but I'll have to dig through some stuff that's packed safely away to find it and photograph it because I'm finding no images on the web.  Some years ago the NYC medical examiner's office had a limited quantity of mugs made up just for fun, for in-house employees, and a friend who was working there gave me one.  I forget what it said or what the image was, but it had a thermal design that, when heated by the coffee, a "window" into the cup turned blood red.

Okay, okay, I'll go down to the basement and find which box it's in.  Sometime this weekend.

We have 2 of those magic coffee mugs in our household.  Mine is from the Victoria Theatre Association in Dayton - it's a drawing of the proscenium arch and when you pour in the hot liquid the curtain rises to reveal the message "You are a Star!"

Rob's is reproduction of Vincent Van Gogh's self-portrait and when you pour in the hot liquid his ear disappears.

So? That can be fun. I love the sound of Robber Bridegroom, for example, and I want to hear what Steve Martin has written for his musical.
