Good morning, all!  I slept late.  Very late.  I would have stayed in bed all day, but I am not that depressed.

I'll be back when I'm feeling more chipper.

Yes it was a shock and very sad DR JOHN G.

The newspapers reported that the kids had been pushing each other into the street as a sort of game.....but NONE of kids told their parents that.....it's kind of a mystery, but I believe it happened the way his brother said....

Terry Pratchett has died. I never read his books. I don't read a lot of fantasy, but I followed his fight against early onset Alzheimer's disease, which he called an "embuggerance." What a great word. It's like something the Sherman Brothers would've coined.

DR TCB I am very happy for your kind friend Diane.  Does she know about making sure a cat doesn't escape?

DR GEORGE's monologs in LAUGHING STOCK are hilarious!  I am sure he will be an audience favorite in this show!

If I get them all memorized. ::)

BK wrote in his notes that "Both films were a complete waste of time," but that he "recommend them highly."

That doesn't quite make sense...to me, at least.

George, this is for you:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fUDUIRTpnmY#t=76

The great David Carroll singing Anthem in Chess. I get goosebumps every time I hear him sing this. And after hearing Josh Groban perform the same song, I realize that the reason is the singer.

Thanks, John G.  I totally agree.  I like Josh Groban, but to me he has one sound...he doesn't seem able to "act" with his voice, just sound pretty.

Okay here I am in 1970 at age 20....in the back row with out of control hair and glasses.  Also in the back row from left cousin Stan, my brother Mike, and my cousin Steve....who was the Indian Mascot at the Indian Creek High School Basketball games around this time.

In front, two of Stan's boys, my three brothers Kent, David, Dane (in glasses), and a little boy I don't remember.

Scott....the first little boy on the left in the front row....a few months after this picture....was waiting for the school bus.  His homework fell out of his notebook and he ran into the street to get it and was killed by a passing car.

Great picture, Jrand, but that's terrible about what happened to Scott. :(

I've been to our local Miami campus, drumming up business for the book sale.  In a little while, Richard and I will go to the venue to help with some last-minute set-up before the 5pm opening.

As far as I can tell, they're liking it a lot.  I learned via a couple of friends who attended last week that I REALLY don't have the slightest idea what the production is looking like.  We're, like, right on top of it, and I can't see the MD's monitor.  I'm hoping they'll be willing to share a video later.

DR VIXMOM's display is most excellent.

Yes, I agree with DR JANE....those figures were quite a bargain at $20.  On EBAY they sell for between $18-$49 each and UP!

DR TCB,  Robert Irvine is a chef on Food TV.  His shows are Dinner Impossible and Restaurant Impossible.  on RI he goes in and tries to save failing restaurants and gives them a 10,000 makeover.  He has an 84% success rate for the restaurants he helps.  They get 2000 requests a week to help restaurants.  Pretty amazing.  They Obviously don't do that many.

He has been on some of the other food competition shows but said after he thought Anne Burrell's contestant on Worst Cooks cheated against his contestant by using a premixed tempura batter instead of making one, he doesn't do competitions shows any more.   Who knows.

I went to work for most of today.  I do pretty well the day, but I'm up at least once an hour all night coughing.  Just want to get some sleep
