Very happy for bk's award win - quite well-deserved, in my opinion!

I woke up this morning thinking it was Saturday.  Luckily I quickly realized it wasn't and went to work.  Late in the morning I got dizzy.  I decided to come home and packed up a bunch of stuff.  I took a nap this afternoon and was out cold for 3 hours. I woke up and didn't know what day it was all over again.  It was still Friday

I'm not going to use the inhaler tonight unless I have to.  I think that will help.  I also think I had a very busy week and wasn't fully recovered yet.  I'm going to take it easy this weekend

Well, you would have thought FJL or former dear reader Julie might have called me last night - but Julie just posted to my Facebook page that Simply WON best song of the year at the Mac Awards.  So, the idea is if I don't show up I win :)  So happy.

Most excellent news and richly deserved.

Only about 400 tickets sold -- and only about 350 showed up.

Sad, because they gave a really good performance.

They worked for a long time to get the rights to do Balanchine's Donizetti Variations, which started the program beautifully.

That was followed by new works set to pieces by Phillip Glass (really haunting), Chopin (an elegant pas de deux) and Arvo Part, a composer I'm growing more fond of every time I hear his music.

The Part piece was for the whole company and they brought it off with a precision that was somewhat lacking in the Balanchine. I wonder why.

Work was not a great deal of fun today. Can't say why. It seemed to be endless and as if little progress had been made. But I actually got a lot done. It's just that a lot more had been placed on my plate. But that will carry me through next week.

For my evening listening, I have put on the award-winning Simply with Ms. Sandy Bainum on vocals.

Went to Half-Price Books yesterday, Ginny.

Found an unopened DVD of Janacek's "The Cunning Little Vixen" for $1 and a film of "Triumph of Love" with Mira Sorvino and Fiona Shaw for $2.

Also found a few of the Oxford book series on musicals. Some of those are too pedantic, but the one about the creation of South Pacific could be good.

Coincidence Alert!

I just heard about that South Pacific book the other day.  Someone has a copy they're giving me.

I am completely baffled by the fact that there has been not one post for over four hours here.  Not good.  And on such a joyous evening, too.  Because of the latter, I'm not going to make a big deal out of the fact that we have achieved a brand new all-time low posting day.  If we go below this I'm afraid that will probably signal to me it's time to shut the old board down and I'll just continue to do my notes.  That would be a shame, of course, and I hope it doesn't come to that, because I dearly love this board and it has weathered all kinds of storms, but I'm not going out with a whimper.  Just how I'm feeling right now.

We don't have a performance on Sunday, so no tickets were sold at all.
