I am thinking that my TOD may be this movie thing......I shall know more later.

Otherwise....probably my first play being produced.  I just rewrote something that I had written a year or so before.....and dropped it in the mail to a local theatre that was have a competition.

Two months later, I got a message to call that theatre.....my play had won a slot in the summer schedule.....that was in May of 1985.....nearly thirty years ago.....and I have had a wonderful time working at that theatre now and then in various capacities and have made some wonderful friends along the way.

The two theatres that I call home - Putnam County Playhouse and Phoenix Theatre in Indy (where I won the competition) are very different places to work - but are a very important part of my life.

I am a bit down about the political doings here in Indiana which have been all over the news.....I don't discuss politics here or on BookFace.....but it is a most depressing development.

The story wasn't killed, Elmore. I just didn't write about the Pulitzer. I did write about a little piece about hometown boy in the big city, as I recall.

I just got the new recording of Offenbach's opera-comique FANTASIO, and my young baritone friend Gavan Ring, who's been too busy with his opera career to record for me on EILEEN, DEAREST ENEMY, or ROBERTA, has a nice role on it.  I am very happy for him. He's got a wonderful voice.

And yet I love that story and the friendship that grew out of it.

I can't say that I've stayed in touch with too many people I've interviewed. And I've interviewed thousands.

But I treasure my long-time friendship with you, Larry, and with my friend Carol, both of which started over interviews.

TOD:

Getting an email from a publisher out of the blue asking me to co-write a book with my business partner. And maybe then getting asked to write another book for them.

Started my taxes today. I could have sworn I put all of my receipts and tax forms together in one spot. I'm missing two. Ugh.

I killed the reason for your original phone call and all of the info on the Pulitzer.

Like Piaf, I regret nothing. :)

I have to go to Fed Ex and pick up some pockets to hold the labels.  I've got seven cartons to go now.

And, like Frank Sinatra, I've had a few, but then again too few to mention.

I've been home waiting on a call from orchestrator Steve Margoshes about the Duck Dynasty finale.  If he doesn't call today, it will be tomorrow, since we have to finish it by Tuesday evening.

I hate waiting around on indefinites.

I need a nap.

I'm holding off on Fed Ex until I'm certain Steve isn't calling.

Then I sup at five way the HELL out in Oak Park and then I see A Chorus Line.  It will be fun to see Sami and the other kids, but knowing the director of the show, I can only say it cannot possibly be good.
