Finally!  Good news, DR vixmom.  I'm surprised it took this long to get you in somewhere for that.  Saturday morning, though.  Good thing it didn't happen twenty-four hours later than it did!

Question for DR Elmore:

This is out of what I presume is the original published vocal score to ANNIE.  (I never had one till last year when I found this at a library sale.)

(MTI provides a proper P/C score now.)

ANYHOO... I guess I'm brain-dead or just ignorant, but for that cue in bar 9 (played by piano), what the heck did "R.M.I." mean?

The RMI was a synthesizer of the early 1970s; it's in CANDIDE, COMPANY, FOLLIES, etc., doing thse cheesy organ sounds and, mst spectacularly, that jangling harpsichord sound in "Another Hundred People."  The 1968 Rocksichord is used throughout the ZORBA score.

Which of course is why it needs to sound a little different.

And that's the same instrument in COMPANY??  I just learned something good today.   :)

Oh!  And there's the ZORBA instrument!  Do they by any chance have one for Encores! ?

Well since this is a working class neighborhood  Saturdays are at a premium, I could have had any number of appointments on Friday or monday

TOD:
My favorite prison movie is a made-for-TV movie called "Prison Stories: Women on the Inside" which was excellent for a TV movie. One of the stars is Annabella Sciorra, whom I really love and I've seen her in a gazillion things, but I never knew her name until now because I was just forced to look it up in order to write this post. She's one of the actresses that's immediately recognizable because she's done a gazillion things, but never really made it "big", so I think a lot of people don't know her name. Also in this movie is Rae Dawn Chong who hasn't been in nearly as many things, but everyone knows her name just because she's Tommy Chong's daughter.

I don't know what they are using for ZORBA; that not on my list of concerns with Joshie!  That;s something for Karol and Rob to work out with the player.

House-finding vibes to Jane and Keith. This is temporary housing or did you see someplace you think you'd like to stay?

Vixmom, as Jane said, real estate closings in California don't usually involve a lawyer. An escrow agent handles everything. My first experience with an escow agent went very smoothly and I think the agent was quite competent. In Virginia, closings were handled by a real estate attorney. Settlement was much as you described it: buyer, buyer's agent, seller, seller's agent, attorney, all convene at the seller's attorney's office to sign stacks of documents and finalize the transaction. I've never heard of a representative from the bank being there, though. Having been through both, I prefer having the attorney.

I just killed a pleasant half hour listening to RMI samples on YouTube.  Some great sounds coming out of these things.

Several years ago, my three cousins and I sold a California property that we owned jointly. I was living in Virginia at the time and my three cousins all live in Houston. Getting my three cousins to agree on anything--indeed, to even SPEAK to one another--can be a challenge. But they asked me to take the lead, which I was happy to do. Miraculously, they all agreed and that end of things went smoothly. Closing was the nightmare. The escrow agent arbitrarily divided our proceeds into four equal parts--because they were four of us, I guess--completely disregarding the contract, which clearly stated that ownership was one-half mine and the other half to my three cousins. She even sent out four checks, all incorrect. We got it straightened out, but I don't think that would have happened with an attorney conducting the settlement.

I also rented back for a month after I sold my last house. The buyers were both tax attorneys who insisted on a VERY quick--three week?--settlement in order to close in that tax year. (It was December.) Even though I'd done extensive planning and preparation--getting rid of things, putting things in storage, etc--it was still a big undertaking to make arrangements so quickly, especially given the holidays. I truly hope I never have to do that again!

Given the uncertainty in real estate today, I suspect that this is becoming the norm. I doubt that many people want a sale contingent on the seller finding a home to buy or a buyer selling their home.

Sami's poster is quite cute. I think of Sami's show as a cabaret act. Are you calling it a new musical because so many of the songs are new? I never really thought about the differences between cabaret and a musical. Sami's the only singer/dancer/actor, yes?

I'm up, barely, after a rather ridiculous night of on and off sleep - maybe I got five hours overall.  That damn spicy chicken breast did me in - just nauseous as can be for most of the evening.

People around here swear by Popeye's, at least as opposed to the Colonel's chicken, but I have yet to really give it a fair try.  We don't have one around me in Connecticut, so I'd either have to eat some in NYC or find it on the road somewhere.  Which is what I did, the one time I can truthfully recall having it.  It was at a service plaza way out on the NY Thruway near Buffalo!  Only had a piece or two, and honestly I guess it was okay but it just tasted like another piece of fast food fried chicken to me.

I'm quite sure it wasn't the spicy, though.    :)
