Had two not one rehearsals and all is well and I think I'll go eat something light but amusing, not necessarily in that order.

Yesterday afternoon I discovered our phone was working.  When I checked our voice mail there had been a message at 9:30 in the morning.  I have no clue when the phones actually went out.  The recorded message by CenturyLink says a cable went out and they are working on it.

I just called and spoke to someone who said they don't expect the repairs to be completed until Tuesday:o

That's some review DR ELMORE......I still don't think I want to see it.  I have never watched the show, so I am not the best one to comment on such an enterprise.

I think the success of a show like this on television or Broadway - though not necessarily Las Vegas - says more about the audience than the project.

Elmore, an article on the opening of the Duck Dynasty musical:

http://www.beaumontenterprise.com/entertainment/television/article/Duck-Dynasty-family-debuts-musical-in-Las-Vegas-6204904.php

Here's a review:
http://lasvegassun.com/vegasdeluxe/2015/apr/16/duck-commander-musical-review-fame-money-and-beard/#.VTD2qSK-zEs.facebook

Is the author the Robin Leach of Champagne Wishes and Caviar Dreams? He's a bad writer. He gave away too many surprises. But he did like the orchestrations.

Last night at "Laughing Stock," we had a small but LOUD audience!  Several people from TAO's "In a Dark, Dark House" were there and they certainly got all the "in" jokes...jokes that other actors or at least theater people would get that "normal" audiences might not.  And they laughed loudly and longly.  A great way to start our last weekend!

Here's the audition notice for the live, improvised soap opera that I mentioned a couple of days ago:

Quote
AUDITION NOTICE
Theater Artists Olympia & The Kitchen Project present
THE NEW LIVE SOAP

It began 10 years ago. It was inspired by the original work “The Cunning” which allowed the actors to step in and out of the play at any time. It was all about the act of choosing one’s own actions. Which was what the play was all about. After a successful run we, the cast, realized we had developed lots of improv and character building skills, which inspired us to steal the idea of a weekly soap from an LA Theatre group and start our own soap. Thus “Invasion of the Heart” was born, set in the almost, practically, wholly imaginary, town of Polymia. And now, of course, the adventure continues…

Theater Artists Olympia, together with the Kitchen Project, are excited to announce auditions for the New Live Soap!  The Show will be written and performed by an ensemble cast on every other Tuesday in the Midnight Sun.  It will require two Sunday writing session/rehearsals.  Theatre experience is not necessarily a requirement.  The Show will be directed by Reuben Yancey who has created/directed over 75 soap shows (amongst many other things). This is a demanding and challenging process that will improve your performance and writing skills and be incredible fun!

And it included contact information.  Anyone interested?

John Adams also wrote Doctor Atomic, which is my favorite of his operas.  Highly recommended by the likes of me.

I have both versions of this opera (one on DVD and the other on Blu-ray).  Right now, I'm listening to the one-act opera, "The Man Who Mistook His Wife For a Hat," by Michael Nyman.  It was on the shelf right next to "Nixon in China," which I'll listen to next.

After that, I'll listen to Alan Menken & Tim Rice's King David that I just got today from eBay...from Australia!  It was another stolen CD that I'm replacing.  And even though this cost probably twice what I had originally paid for it new, I wanted it, so I got it.  I've seen it for a lot more, but it's been a LONG time since I've seen it for much less.  And it's in absolutely perfect pristine condition!  I love that. ;D

I knew that it opened on Wednesday night. My friend Mimi is in it.  I want them to record it so I can make some more money on it.

That would be cool!  Good luck, Larry!

Back from the same low-cal salad as last night - chopped, veggies, tiny oil, lots of vinegar.  And a bagel.

And I believe I can now just take the rest of the day for myself.  Tomorrow I'll go down to the Pasadena Playhouse to see how everything got loaded in and to draw a diagram for my entrances and exits plot that I give to each performer on Monday.

It just dawned on me that today I'm visiting the oldest person I know (Mom, 96) and the youngest (Iris, almost 4 weeks).

;D

A baby should cheer you up after your visit with your mother.

I certainly hope so, DR Jane, because I found in Mom's refrigerator the green (Jello) eggs and ham that I'd taken her last Saturday - untouched.  And most of the time I was there she seemed to think I was my sister...

I shall soon be on my way to the Friday evening performance of ANTIGONE.

Not many students are expected to attend, because tonight is also a free concert by somebody or someone named MTKO to start the Little 500 bicycle race event that will happen on Saturday afternoon.

And now Iris's grandma, my friend Katie, is joining us for dinner.  She's invited me to use her husband's ticket to the local group's production of Forbidden Broadway tonight.  After we eat we'll clear out and let the girls visit.

Not sure what to expect at the theatre...
