Speaking of theatre, today I went to see Dame Edna's Glorious Goodbye: the Farewell Tour.

Since I've had luck with the lottery at the National Theatre for Pippin and Blithe Spirit, I decided to try for Dame Edna too. As it turns out, everyone won as there were 20 seats available for the lottery and only about 10 were needed.

For $25, I got a box seat. Great view of the show,except for the film clips at the beginning. But for that price, the seat was great. And what was really good was that I could see all the people from the audience (in about the first 6 rows) that the Dame made part of the show.

The show was just hilarious. And at the end Barry Humphries comes out as himself and gives a little history of his alter ego.

My Niece is planning on visiting NY next year with her husband and I am trying to assist her with locating a good place to stay would any DRs be willing to share suggestions for nice a hotel?

I was happy to see Dame Edna maybe 10 years ago in NYC, but was not one of the lucky ones to be given a "glad" or picked to be onstage, even though the Dame walked right past my row several times.

She stopped the show about 8:15 when some latecomers arrived.....she carried on a conversation with them as they found their seats and then asked them where they came from....they named a local town.

"That's remarkable," she said...."I came all the way from Australia, and I got here on time."

That seems to be a staple in her act. A man whose seat was in the front row arrived late. She asked him where he was from and he said Herndon, Virginia, which is about an hour from DC. Dame Edna gave the same response about being from Australia.

I saw Dame Edna about 15 years ago or so and she was wonderful! Her alter-ego BH did not come out after that show. It was strictly the Dame and her accompanist.

I'm done with work and am about to head to Seattle to pick up my friend and her daughter from the airport. Since I didn't get to go to Silver Platters when I dropped them off, I found directions to another SP location (it's actually farther south so it's closer) and will go there before picking them up. It's open until 10:00 pm and the flight doesn't come in until 11:00, so I have lots of time! Hope I actually find something that I want to get.

DR Vixmom, when we don't rent an apartment Richard and I like to stay at the Broadway @ Times Square hotel on 46th St., between 6th and 7th. It used to be a Comfort Inn. Not big and flashy, but it's a great location and quite comfortable.

We like our realtor in Vancouver very much. He is also a realtor and a contractor and has been very helpful to us. He looks like Martin Freeman only a bit older.
