Will the Birthday Boy tell us what a Virgil's is? Is this a NY eatery?

There were some mountain lions sightings around San Diego when I lived there many years ago. Much too close for comfort.

I had my rescheduled lunch with my friend Jan the other day. The restaurant, Green Peas, which started as a breakfast/lunch/late-night sort of place, serving salads, sandwiches, and pizza, plus breakfast, branched out a couple years ago and added fish and chicken to their dinner menu. They've now added tilapia to their anytime menu. It was GOOD! Grilled tilapia on a bed of fresh kale, cucumbers, and avocado. Yum. I'll order that again.

Did they say who the DWTS pros will be? Or the SYTYCD finalists?

Anna Trebunskaya and a DWTS pro to be announced.  The others are TBA too. It's not until Nov 14. so there's lots of time

Anna has not been on DWTS for a while.  But I do like her a lot.

There was a dancing thing that came through last year that looks the same. I didn't go, but she was there and American Idol finalists and SYTYCD finalists.  I'm guessing it's with the same group

Happiest of Birthdays to FJL!   Hope you're going to do something fun today

Thank you, Cilla!   We had a Virgil's lunch, which was really the size of a dinner and was  loads of tasty fun (we don't have Virgil's often enough).  Skip's making a special-request cake for me.

That's plenty of excitement, as I've been hooked on the goings-on in Baltimore today after missing so much of it during the work days this past week.

What kind of cake is your special request?   I love cake.   I was hooked on watching Baltimore for awhile, but kind of got tired of it

I liked reading about the upcoming events at DR CILLA LIZ's Symphony.

There has been an ongoing controversy because the new conductor at the Indianapolis Symphony has banned seating in the onstage boxes saying that the people there are a distraction to him.....the seats where many subscribers have sat for years.

Checking the ISO seating chart, it seems the seats are still available.....maybe it's just when this ass conducts.

Well I have DR elmore kinds of problems today.

A friend who wanted to cheer me up sent a new copy of "Wait Till Your Father Gets Home" the old Hanna-Barbera sitcom from early 1971 or thereabouts starring Tom Bosley. However, the package never got to me. The USPS marked it as having been delivered this past Wednesday. Because the postal carrier that day, of course not my usual person, marked the package that day, I cannot do a tracer. The front office/apartment manager gets any packages that cannot be left outside our doors or inside our locked mailboxes, and a slip is left in the mailbox to claim the package. I was never left a slip and the front office do not have the package. I have never missed or lost anything since I've been living here.

Needless to say I am very upset. I checked with my friend and the package was sent by them, no insurance, and was not from a third-party site or store. There's not much recourse, except to be very upset.

The only variable in this whole equation is that fill-in mail carrier for this past Wednesday. I know that when we have had fill-ins in the past and packages were left with the front office there's a little scam that they do. They will mark the package as delivered on, say Monday, but because it is late in the P.M., the packages will not be left at the office. The packages will be physically delivered the next day, Tuesday in my example. I can't say that is what happened here because for the past couple of days, including today I have asked and there's nothing in the front office and I have never received a slip from the mail carrier.

In any event, there's nothing to do. I talked with the usual postal carrier today. He was kind to listen, but I'm really not holding out any hope.

I guess the odds were that this would occur at some point given the USPS track record. Speaking of track. Their tracking system is virtually useless. I have had packages delivered and received by me and the USPS site still has no information at all. Why anyone would want the government to run anything else is beyond me.

Greetings from Dublin (Ohio, not Ireland, alas)!  I arrived this morning in time for the opening of the conference and just now got settled into my room.  Awards dinner in about an hour.

Welcome to my world.  I ship everything now with by priority mail a tacking number.  I do not trust the post office.  I have had media mail take up to eight weeks to get to me so I will do anything to get a vendor to use priority mail istead.  i consider media mail nothing more than legalized postal theft

Welcome to My World - that's the title of my… Oh, wait, that's the title of the one-girl musical.  It has a rather infectious opening number with that title, too.

I know what you mean about some stories.  Because of tax work this week, I'm now needing to catch up on some of the earlier details to really understand what's going on.

I was just reading about how Michael Lindsay-Hogg and the late Tim McIntire may have been the sons produced from Orson Welles's affairs with Geraldine Fitzgerald and Jeanette Nolan. I know that these rumors haven't been proved, but they haven't been disproved, and don't seem to be names picked randomly. Comparing pictures, both men share many characteristics of Orson Welles. It's interesting. I remember when Michael Bay kept dismissing rumors that John Frankenheimer was his father, and then that turned out to be true. Looking at the photos though does leave the possibility open. Who knows? The Welles legend never dies.
