And so, the TOD:
All week up through yesterday afternoon, MAD MEN.
Then, for a complete change of pace, last night I watched U TURN, a little-known Oliver Stone film that can be described as a comedic but intense "Desert Noir". I love that kind of thing, so it was bound to float my boat just fine. It's kind of NATURAL BORN KILLERS-ish in style. I found it highly entertaining, the casting is amazing, and so is the score by Ennio Morricone. Naturally, there's violence, so if that isn't for you, then it isn't for you. For the likes of me, it was a perfect "blind buy" from Twilight Time.
Today and over the long weekend, more ketchup. Off the top of my head, the To Watch stack includes two musicals, THE LAST FIVE YEARS and INTO THE WOODS (yes, children, there are still a couple of us who haven't seen it yet). Other films are MISSISSIPPI BURNING (which somehow I never saw, don't ask me why because I haven't the slightest idea), A MAN FOR ALL SEASONS, PIT STOP, and THE STRANGE CASE OF DR. JEKYLL AND MISS OSBOURNE which shall be my first foray into a Walerian Borowczyk film. (Whew.) (I had to copy and paste the spelling.) So let's be serious -- I'm not going to get through all of that in a couple of days. And there are a couple more things that I'm forgetting at the moment. So it's a good stack. A mighty good stack.
Music-wise, I'll be going through some lovely vinyl records, and while so doing, mixing a new batch of cleaning fluid and replacing a brush on the record cleaning machine, bringing everything up to snuff.
