Our live-in member of the geek squad - DS Rob - just reconnected the DVD player to my Momcave TV.  Now I can watch chick-flicks when Richard wants to watch shoot-em-ups.

Early this afternoon, Rob and I will take my old Singer console sewing machine to the garage sale venue.  I've inherited a portable that Mom bought and never took out of the box.

Several table lamps that John McGlinn purchased with the desks and carpets. DR Ben and ant took one.

Happy, as is everyone, to hear the Dan M. news.

Thank you DR bk and to all who have sent vibes and xylos for continuing good health! I am eagerly looking forward to the surgery, not that I like being in hospital, but maybe I can get a facsimile of my former shape. The best I can describe it as, it's like having a pregnancy of 3 months, all in the front.

One of the funniest ever bits from SCTV with Dave Thomas, Rick Moranis, Andrea Martin, and John Candy as Orson Welles:

I always looked forward to any TV appearances by Orson. He was a great raconteur and entertainer on Merv and Cavett. I know he was on Carson's Tonight, but I don't think that often. There may have been a falling out between the two.

Here's another sketch with John Candy as Orson in this parody from SCTV. This bit parodies so many things, it's great and is held together by Rick Moranis as Merv:

(poor quality, alas)

I second all of the previous mentions of actual Orson Welles films, and whatnot, as he has been one of my heroes. I don't know why, but since childhood, I've always liked and admired him, and had a few LPs. Yes, I was precocious.

I remember seeing some of these episodes as a youngster. Wish I could get these to watch, Orson Welles Great Mysteries. I know he just basically lent his name and did the intros and outros, but it's Orson.

FREEDOM RIVER as told by Orson Welles, with animation by UPA studio artists (the home of Mr. Magoo):

I think Orson Welles wrote something for the liner notes of Cybill Does It ... to Cole Porter. Praising that album was one of the comedic highlights of his career.
