There was some discussion of needing passports for Canada.   I know a little bit about this...  For the last several years a passport book or passport card is needed.  Alternatively, there are a few states, including New York, that issue "enhanced driver's licenses," which are acceptable.  I know that DR Kate has one.  When you live in the Buffalo area, it's not unusual to go to Canada for the afternoon or evening.   The passport card and enhanced license are only good when traveling by land or sea.  You need a passport book when flying.

I'm sure you're right about this, DR Kevin, but I saw no mention of it on Canada's website. It said that California residents don't need a visa, but said nothing about a passport or special driver's license. Harrumpphh. I'll look again. I used to vacation in Canada rather often.

http://canada.usembassy.gov/traveling_to_canada/passport-requirements.html

Thanks, Cilla.
Hope it helps

Well, if they couldn't give him his award on the air, it was nice that they made him a presenter.

Minnesota also has the "enhanced" driver's license.

bk has said this before, but the Radio City Music Hall is too big for the Tonys. It loses the immediacy and theatricality, not being housed in a real Broadway theatre.

At first I thought there was a real live orchestra in the pit. But no. It's just stray audience members.

Do you have an acceptance speech prepared, DR Jrand64?

Just in case?

And what are you wearing, JRand? Did Anna Wintour advise you as well?

Wow - at first I thought that was a real staircase - pretty impressive. But now I think it's just a digital projection.

I agree, DR Jrand64 - KC's "look" is quite extreme.

I could have sworn that Alan Cumming said "George Gobel" was coming up.  I realized it was Josh Groban.

Gee Gee?

I thought it was Zhee Zhee....but I could be wrong.

Nevertheless, that number was pretty charmless.  Is the whole show like that?  I thought I was watching Cole Porter's Can Can there for a second.

Ms Clark is neither Colette's Mamita nor Hermione Gingold.  It also really pisses me off that we have to watch numbers from non-nominated productions.  Is this so Harvey Weinstein can bring back FINDING NEVERLAND again?  It was bad enough last year.

And who wrote the shitty new lyrics for Alan Jay Lerner?

Orchestra, DR singdaw?  You want to see an orchestra?  An ORCHESTRA in the PIT?  At the TONY AWARDS SHOW celebrating LIVE MUSICAL THEATER?

DR ELMORE don't non-nominated shows PAY to have numbers on the show?

I thought that all shows had to pay...that's why you rarely saw nominated, but no-longer-running shows on the broadcast.  They didn't have income to justify the payment.

Is that the very short white dress I saw on the NYT red carpet? It reminds me of a toilet paper tube.
