Had some chicken tenders for lunch.  Back now and relaxing until I'm on my way to see a show.

Here's a Hollywood Palace with Groucho, reunited with the great Margaret Dumont.  She died eight days after taping this episode, which was shown after her death.

What a great clip!  That tall blonde dancer that Groucho dips was one of the hot box girls in the movie version of GUYS & DOLLS and she was also in THE MUSIC MAN.....I remember her vividly from "Wells Fargo Wagon".....

She does her stuff at 2:11 in this clip.

The choreography is the WORST.  Miriam Nelson.  Still at it directing and choreographing old musicals in concert at Theater West - and just as poorly.

LOL.....she was Doris Day's "personal" choreographer at Warner Bros.  Doris thought she was better than LeRoy Prinz.....but other than that.....

I just heard from our DR Ben; his internet and phone are still out and he's on Wi-Fi at Pret a Manger.

I had pizza and tomato-mozzarella salad for dinner.  Things are looking up.

Miriam was one of those poor choreographers who flourished on TV variety shows - not even as good as June Taylor.  She has choreography credits on The Apartment and Breakfast at Tiffany's - sorry, having people move around in party sequences is not really my idea of choreography - in other words, they aren't musical numbers.  There are a lot of these folks who were ordinary - I remember seeing the revamped version of Kander and Ebb's The Act, which starred Gloria Loring.  It was directed and choreographed by a male equivalent of Miss Nelson, Walter Painter.  Perfectly adequate but nothing more and certainly nothing as fun as the show's original choreography.

I love choreography!  It was my first theatre job.....everything else grew from that.  I loved to tell a story.....beginning, middle, end.

So many local theatres figure that dance teachers make the best choreographers, but I don't think so.  There's a BIG difference between doing a number and doing a SONG!  And just because the music repeats, that doesn't mean you should repeat the steps....that's just LAZY!

I was a bit astonished that she had ALL of those people and basically did NOTHING with them.....and Dumont was certainly lost in the crowd rather than featured.

Shortly I shall be on my way to meet some folks pre-show, although I won't really be eating unless they have a low-cal appetizer of some sort.

Saturday evening greetings!  It's been another long AAUW day and we have the gala banquet tonight.  I'm in my room decompressing before changing into my party clothes and heading back downstairs.

Tonight I went to the "wurst party ever".   There were bratwurst, hot dogs, anndoui (sp?) sausage and hot dogs...and lots of salads and desserts.  It was a lot of fun.  Haven't been out with those friends in a while

I didn't drink anything except water as I'm not sure if my system is back to normal again yet. If the food doesn't bother me, I'd say the answer is yes.

I'm a little irritated at friend Paul who seems to have something he has to do or somewhere he has to be whenever I really need a friend. The past couple weeks have been very hard for me.   I talked to him Monday and he said a friend was getting married Saturday so the whole week was all about him.   Ok, I get a friend is getting married, but he lives in town and it isn't like Paul was even in the wedding party.  You can't tell me he couldn't take a few minutes to talk to me all week long.  I'm not mad, just a little disappointed.

I seem to recall that the Radio City live shows were staged with the family audience in mind (the Rockettes legs notwithstanding) but parents bringing their kids would be amazed at the mature content of the films.

Oh, I don't know.  I saw THE LOVE BUG at the Easter Show!
