My question for ASK BK DAY.....has anyone ever proposed marriage to you?

Perhaps the question could be modified to...has anyone ever propositioned you?  Do you love a good proposition story?  :D

I need that sherpa when you're done with him, for loading the file cabinet into the car.  Glad we're only doing one this time!    :)

Lunch today:

Hamburger: Two slices of white bread, mustard, one nice juicy slice of fresh tomato and a home-cooked all-beef
 patty.

Chips: Kettle Cooked Jalapeno variety.

Water.

OK. Here's my F. Scott Fitzgerald joke.

Two old guys are sitting on a park bench.

Guy #1:  Who wrote "The Great Gatsby," anyway?
[pause]
Guy #2:  F. Scott Fitzgerald!
[pause]
Guy #1:  What did Scott Fitzgerald ever do to you?

I have now gotten two very wacko e-mails from some guy who purports to know my brother and me, and is asking why I allowed a breach and that we need to heal it because death is near.  I mean, random, right?  So, I e-mailed him back after forwarding his missive to my brother and to my cousin Dee Dee, who was really freaked out by it.  I asked him to explain his e-mail.  Meanwhile, I looked up his e-mail address on Google and it led me right to his information.  He is a homeopathic "doctor" or whatever they call homeopathic people, in Escondido.

He wrote back saying more of the same, reiterating that death is near (not being specific but implying for both of us) and we need to heal and that he's known both of us for years, but only from the background and shadows.  I wrote him back a much stronger e-mail, telling him he really needed to explain himself clearly, and that I had his information and that I've forwarded his e-mails.  His stuff is showing up at the address we use when you write me from this here site, so that's obviously how he found me.  I did explain to him that while my brother and I had a contentious time growing up, that our relationship, while not close, has been completely fine since reaching adulthood.  I see him when he's in town (if I can) and we get along just fine.  This guy's next response will be key - if I don't like it or it creeps me out, I'll just pick up the phone and call him - and if I don't like the conversation, I'll pay him a little visit with some friends in tow.

BK, homeopathic or insane, he's a mess. Send this jerk's emails to your spam file.  He is a creep.

Moross' scores are quite beautiful to see

Re-reading Suskin's book on Broadway orchestrators makes me long to see examples of their work first-hand.

It would have been better if he weren't so musically uninformed.  Since he dislikes operetta and early musicals, and seems proud of both his ignorance and arrogance, he misses some great orchestrators.

Our phone service is back. I assume that means our internet service is back as well, but since I'm at the office and Anthony is still asleep I won't know until Anthony turns on the computer and modem/router at home to find out.

A technician from Verizon came yesterday at around 6pm. I was at the Theatre so Anthony was there to handle it. They got caught in the torrential downpour but they did get into the back yard. The technician confirmed that there was nothing wrong on our end. It was in some deep dark area of Verizon's inner-workings. He said he would put in a work order. I got home at 9:15 and the phone was still not working. I went to bed at 10:15 (no phone) but I got up at 5:45 this morning and lo and behold, the phone worked. I called my office number and a couple of other numbers (no one was awoken during this test) to ensure it wasn't a fluke. My cell phone is now officially turned off until I need it again.

As I said earlier in the week, there is much to do at the office so I will leave now, happy that we are back in the land of communications.

Welcome back, Ben!

DRs, my college friend Craig could use some vibes.  His son has been missing since June 17, and I know the family is going mad with worry. Supposedly, he went missing after leaving to someone he had met on a dating site.

Oh, no! :(

I do not like the PC police either.  I am also tired of "trigger" words and warnings.  It's annoying.

You cannot turn the entire world into a college campus where you are protected from things that hurt your sensibilities - the rest of us don't care.  We have to get on with our lives and EXIST with everyone else in the world....and guess what?

SO DO YOU!

The board of Theater Artists Olympia just had a BIG discussion (which will be continued) about warnings on our advertising that shows might include trigger words or other "adult" issues.  For the last show we did, "In a Dark, Dark House" by Neil LaBute, the director decided to put a warning on the poster.  Some people (especially the one who brought up the issue to begin with) thought it was very necessary, and others (myself included) thought it was a little too much.  People come to TAO shows to be challenged.  I don't think that we need to tell them that they need to be prepared to feel something whether it's good, bad, or indifferent.

Just my 2¢.

I'm not a fan of frivolous lawsuits, but I'm glad the guy in Virginia won after hearing a tape of his anesthesiologist and a doctor trash him while he was undergoing a colonoscopy. Their behavior was wholly unprofessional.

Now, they are all gone.
