Good morning, all!  I've been moving furniture for the last hour and I am ready for our DR ChasSmith's arrival with my new (used) 5-drawer filing cabinet.  I have a cherce thank you gift of a Strauss vocal score for ELEKTRA waiting for him.  Maybe some DVDs, too!

Once this heavy (it's heavy!) cabinet is in, we'll have a lovely luncheon and gossip, so if your ears burn . . .

Thank you all for the vibes for Craig and his family.  There's been no update on Facebook, but I suspect Craig has flown to Missouri to deal with his son's disappearance.  I may give him a call this morning, just to check on him.

I've been sublimating my Dublin melancholy in playing lots of Irish music.  I cannot get enough of The Dubliners' "Whiskey In The Jar."

I remember the poem at the end of the show of Romper Room

Romper, bomper, stomper boo. Tell me, tell me, tell me, do. Magic Mirror, tell me today, have all my friends had fun at play?

I saw Al Pacino do American Buffalo in a small Off-Broadway theater. We needed raincoats. Boy did he spit when he talked

I had to look up DMT -- what do I know of these things? -- but I'm very glad to hear the mystery of the emails was solved.  Bizarre.  And, I guess, in the end, kind of amusing.  But things are all right, and that's what matters.

I think Midnight Cowboy was one of his finest performance
Also
Papillon

I was 11 when I saw Little Big Man and had no idea that it was him playing the very old Jack Crabb

Oddly, the delivery of the file cabinets turns out to be easier than the loading of them, and this is already easier because there's only one.  Still, as DR Elmore says, it's a heavy mother.  Or it ain't heavy, it's my brother.  Or something.

About Last Night

The Graduate
Wag the Dog
Runaway Jury

When I was in college I was required to take an acting class for my major, and one of our assignments was to do a scene from the David Mamet play, "About Last Night". The movie was only very loosely based on the play. The movie was made to be  much sweeter and lighter than the play. Anyway, the scene that was chosen for me and a partner was a bed scene. We had to pretend to be naked in bed, during after-play and having pillow talk. I put on a tube top and tights and pulled a sheet up to my armpits. We had a weird dialog where I admitted I'd had lesbian experiences. Afterwards, the teacher only gave constructive criticism to my partner and said nothing about my performance. I never know if that means I was so good, he couldn't improve anything or if I was so terrible, I wasn't worth the effort to try to improve. I hate that.

No Supreme Court decision on marriage equality today. That leaves either tomorrow (an anniversary date for two key previous related rulings) or next Monday.
