We had an office party last night.  The boss called it "Christmas in July" as he'd been unable to throw a real Christmas party last year.

He had a minimum amount that he had to get to for the restaurant tab and was winding p well under the minimum, so he started ordering food and giving it to people we didn't know.  That turned out to be very festive.

She has been on the board many years....she is tolerated....but I can hold out longer than she can....I'm five years younger.

She may be on the board, but she is not the board!

I am glad some people enjoy that particular Cole Porter ditty......my only exposure to it was on an old Judy Garland "Live" album....and maybe her version didn't do it justice.....DR BEN don't click on the link.

Yea...no...that's not a good version.  My favorite is Anne Wood on the London cast recording of the Cole Porter revue, A Swell Party, featuring the late Martin Smith.

Here it is on YouTube. :D

During this lull, how about a few California photos?

This is the view I had from my room in San Diego:

At the ALA conference, a company with which DR Jane is very familiar provided shuttle buses for us as they have for 50 years now:

I have ridden them for 42 of those years.  Thank you, Keith!

This is a panel of mystery authors.  The second from the left is Marcia Clark.  Yes, THAT Marcia Clark.  She said she likes writing mystery novels because she can control the outcome in ways she could not in the courtroom.

Are her books any good?

And now, I'm off to my sister's house.  We'll eat and watch "1776" and probably play Phase 10.  And later tonight, I'm going to see "The Shining" on the big screen!

Until later!

Vixmom, I seriously worry about your health.  It is insane that you have to work these hours all of the time.

As I often do, I stopped at Trader Joe's on the way home. The day before a big holiday at TJ's? Yes, it was crazy. I grabbed what I needed, checked out, and split.

I plan to work around the apartment and laze about a lot.

That sounds perfect to me. Glad Larry will be having some R&R.

Stage Manager could not find the plastic funnel I bought him to pour the colored water into the liquor bottles....no where to be found.....  I asked him where he left it...he said beside the sink....which of course LINDA says is HER sink, not the dishwashing sink....

So during the cast meeting before the show, since she was there to take production photos, I asked everyone if they had seen the funnel....that it was missing, and I hated to have to buy another one.

Linda spoke up and said, "I hid it, it was left on the counter where it shouldn't have been."

And I said: "Well maybe we put it there as a gift for you."

She didn't say anything....but NOW everyone knows.....

I can honestly say that I have never had the "pleasure" to have worked with someone who's as much of a pill as this Linda. :-\

I've heard stories from friends, but never from first-hand experience.

Oh, George, you haven't lived!

Thanks for the vibes, DRs ChasSmith and Jane.  NP Leah sent me right to the hospital for an ultrasound and it was determined that I do not have a blood clot - whew!

GOOD NEWS FROM DR GINNY!

It sounds like you have the hospital visit drill down pat, which is a good thing. Do you check your blood viscosity? I like to have mine checked, despite not having had a cardiac event.

I recommend the neck, DRs Elmore and Jrand64.

Yes, the more diabolical the better.

There is a board for the Playhouse, DR JRand64?  Can't they slap her down or remind her of her position in the scheme of things?

Maybe she's the one who reached for the gun!

Might she have HID the gun? She seems to like punishing others for their little transgressions.

Yes. I was thinking this morning that if Vixmom was paid for all the hours she worked, instead of just a fraction of them, she'd be RICH! Even if she was just getting minimum wage.

Media check:

I was so enamored of the music from DANCING ON THE EDGE that last night I watched an old favorite, the Robson & Jerome AIN'T MISBEHAVIN'. I'm about a third of the way into it. It's quite fun, much lighter than DOTE.
