Well, you've read the notes, the notes had independence, fireworks, and tidbits, and now it is time for you to post until the independent cows come home.

I'm back from seeing Olympia Film Society's showing of "The Shining" (Kubrick's version) at the Capitol Theater.  We were in the balcony and man was it hot up there...and not in a good way.

I realized while watching the movie that I hadn't watched it all the way through, which isn't really surprising. ;) I'd seen a lot of it, but not all of it.  It was a very different kind of movie than what is made today.  The score is minimal with a lot of time without underscoring or dialogue.  I can't imagine how it would be made today.

After seeing the movie, we went to a local bar and chatted and drank (I had a diet Coke).

Then, when the bar closed, I drove my friend and his girlfriend home, because I was sober and they don't have a car and it would've taken them an hour to walk home.  By car, it only took ten minutes, and it really wasn't out of my way.

BK, with the Kritzerland show you're doing tomorrow, is there potential that if it feels right, there might be an actual show there in the way you're organizing it?  For all the timing and organizational hiccups, it's at least sounding like a revue that could have popular success in theatrical venues.

Especially to vixmom, who probably needs to watch her step under the potential tyranny of British rule.

TOD

I just glanced over Andre Previn's composer credits and it's sad how little of his work I know.  Or how few of his movies (as composer) I know.  DEAD RINGER is automatically my number one choice, and I always wish he had written more such scores.  I recently watched BAD DAY AT BLACK ROCK and very much enjoyed the film...and most likely the score, but I'd have to go back and listen again.  Always loved ONE, TWO, THREE where of course his main theme is Khachaturian's "Sabre Dance"...I need to see that now (it's been years) and hear what else he does with the music.  Need to re-see and re-hear ELMER GANTRY, too.

Songs, I don't know, but I know he's done a lot.  When I watched the PAINT YOUR WAGON film a few months ago, I guess his added songs were fine but I don't remember them.  I'm reminded he contributed to VALLEY OF THE DOLLS which I've greatly enjoyed, though it's been a long time since I've seen it.  etc. etc.

It was supposed to be a nice day today but there is a lot of thunder and rain. The thunder is making my dog scared which is rare for him. So I took him out of hi cage and he slept with me.

Andre Previn.

I enjoy his most of his new songs for Paint Your Wagon and a few of his score for Coco.

I enjoy
Theme From The Valley of The Dolls
I'll Plant My Own Tree
You're Gonna Hear from Me
the song from Pepe (name I forget)
The boxing song from Always Fair Weather.

Film Score
Elmer Gantry

Can you please ask Mr. Gitt if Columbia will be releasing their new 4K Restoration of Lost Horizon that they did last year. I've looking for any information on it but have not been successful.

DR JEANNE I specifically asked her about the gun.  She hadn't even see it, which I do believe, because there would be no reason for her to be in the space where we were rehearsing.

Here is an 8-minute slide show about our cast in BAD SEED, if you care to watch.

It plays in the lobby before/after the show and during intermission.
