Independence Day greetings!  We had a lovely time at DN Lauren and Jimmy's last night and enjoyed the Smith Park fireworks show from their backyard.  I was up past midnight and managed to sleep until almost 9 this morning - very late for me.

Today we must, must, must go to the grocery and to visit Mom.  My plan is to be home for dinner and to watch the Washington and NYC celebrations on TV.

Thank you, all, for the nice comments on my California photos and for the expressions of relief that I don't have a blood clot.  I think I have something called postphlebetic (or postthrombotic) syndrome.

Good morning, all!  I slept until 9:30, with lots of bizarre dreams about working at The Drama Book Shop, several employers and colleagues no longer living, and Michael Frayn's translation of Chekhov's plays.  At one point the Shop morphed into my bedroom in the house I lived in between 1950 and 1979.

I have ordered a meal which apparently has enough calories to keep a family of 6 going for a week

I have a bird family nesting under the eaves on my front porch right near where the flag would be flying.  So I will just have to appear unpatriotic today and not fly the flag.

I did fly it last Friday when the Supreme Court announced their decision because I was very proud to be an American at that particular moment.

I've been listening to Dearest Enemy, although the main historical events in it took place on September 15, 1776, not July 4.

Someday DR vixmom and I will take a meal together at a good diner or an IHOP or some such, and the local papers will send photographers to cover the event.  And the spread.

Later in the day, 1776.  Don't know if THE MUSIC MAN will make it onto the screen today.  And I don't have YANKEE DOODLE DANDY.

Endless?  Remember, DR vixmom, all good things must end in time.  But until then, eat, drink and be merry!

It's a day for being lazy and watching movies. Watched the new Blu and Ray of "The Lady from Shanghai" and have started "Ballet 422," which is kind of a documentary version of Robert Altman's kinda documentary-like "The Company."
