It's drizzling again - why can't it just full out rain - we need the damn rain, we don't need the drizzle.

Thunder we've got.  Thunder and drizzle.  C'mon weather, man up and rain already.

Back from visiting Mom and shopping at Barnes & Noble for a christening gift for Baby J - 2 books of Bible stories.  One for his parents to read to him and another board book that he can chew on carry around and "read" to himself.

I have stashed away a few board books with Baby Robbie's teeth marks in them...

TOD:
I remember when I was about seven years old, my sister called me a lesbian and I asked her what that meant and she said, "it's when a woman loves another woman, like she wants to marry her." I don't remember how I learned about gay men, but the term "gay" was used a lot a my school as a pejorative term for just about anything. It was used the way the word "lame" is used today. My dad tried to get me a pair of really ugly sneakers just because they were cheap and I said, "But Dad, everyone at school will say I'm gay!" I didn't know what the word really meant. My dad (knowing full well what the word meant) cracked up laughing.

OMG, Bruce, it's POURING in Thousand Oaks! I've never seen so much rain in July. There's lots of lightening and very loud thunder, and it's super humid too. I feel like I'm in Chicago.

I just listened to The Essential Andre Previn.  You know what?  That boy could play the piano.  It's all pretty great stuff, even if I'm not crazy about the tracks with the (IMHO) overdone orchestra (David Rose).

It's this one, except mine's stereo:

It's finally raining here, too - real rain - not pouring, but real rain.  May it continue.

Critt Davis, of whom I spoke in the notes, did indeed pass away in 2009.  We have so many mutual friends and not a one of them mentioned it to me.  He was eighty, so a nice, long life.

We could use about a week of this rain - non-stop.  Or at least a full day of it.  Helper is coming Monday morning instead of now.

We had a storm last night with 70 mph winds.   They sounded the sirens (they are doing that now for straight line winds over 60 mph and tornados)  Since I have big trees around I decided to wait it out in the basement with the cats.   I didn't have any damage, but there are lots of trees and branches down around the area

Will your new lawn service be able to clean it up for you?

I didn't have any damage, but I saw quite a bit in the area

I am home from a wonderful Mexican dinner at Cafe Frida.  i had a hibiscus (hibiscus, cointreau, and pomegranate) frozen margarita. Quite deelish.  Also enchiladas in a mole sauce, fresh guacamole, and salsa.

My friend Wayne is great and after dinner we walked to a new candy shop on Columbus run by two young (gay, i believe) Pakastani or Indian men, of whom Wayne is enamored.  I bought some sour cherry gummy candies and Wayne bought out the store.  They like him, too, and gave him some free chocolate eggs.

After my Britcoms, I'll be ready for bed.

Vixmom, so sorry to hear this. Have you looked into live in help?  In some places it can be less expensive than assisted living. Don't know your circumstances.

We are just beginning to explore the available options

I have a friend in San Diego (yes, just one).  His husband has collected 32 gallon jugs of rain water, since it started raining at 9 this morning

Sorry that was not meant to sound snarky  I wasposting and the phone rang and it hit post before I was really finished.    What I meant to say was we are just beginning to explore all available options but it is really early days everything is super expensive and finance are not all one could hope.  Benefits for assisted living appear to be nonexistent.  My SIL spent all day yesterday with the vixter and my folks running from dr to dr to the VA and social workers trying to gather info and advice
