T.O.D.
When I was five or six, my Aunt Ruth (my mom's sister) and the lady who lived in the apartment next door, decided to buy a house together. There was talk at the time that single women couldn't get funding for buying a house, and also that there was security in not living on their own.
However, as the year went on and they vacationed together every year, they went out to dinner and drinks together, and invited other female friends down for elaborate parties. They even had a big 25th anniversary party to "celebrate buying their house." I remember when I went to see the film THE KILLING OF SISTER GEORGE. The next day at breakfast my mom asked how I liked the movie. I said it was kind of like watching Ruth and Dorothy together. My sister chocked on her toast and my mom got up and started rinsing the dishes.
