Well, you've read the notes, the notes had a time machine and were a dream, and now it is time for you to post until the cows come home - they're currently finding their own time MOOchine.

Today will be the first day in the new office. It will be a major change. We are in the trendy "open plan" layout. There will most likely be lots of fallout the first week.

Ginny, when/if you come to visit you will certainly be surprised. The library is half the size and so much more I won't go into here.

That's it for now.

Changes of office of that magnitude are traumatic.  No two ways about it.  Been there, done it.  Best of luck with the fallout, DR Ben.

I will go over the notes again carefully later, but what an amazing color photo of that drugstore.  Really beautiful.  Nothing in it is recognizable by the likes of me, but how wonderful that the street sign comes through loud and clear.

In the meantime, House of Pies was at Whitley.  That was my corner.  It was going strong when we moved to Franklin and Whitley in June 1972, and I lived there three years with it.  The building is still recognizable today by its angled corner entryway, as is the roof profile of the one next to it which was Johnny's Steak House in the B&W photo.

In 30 minutes I will call my HMO to see if I did accidentally cancel my yearly physical exam this morning.  If I did not, I will head down to the bank, the doctor, and the pharmacy.

It was another wild night of dreams, although all i remember now is driving a new car down a winding mountain road at a high speed rate and thinking "I cannot damage this car" and coming out onto a wide expanse of road in one piece, and another involving a driver of a utilities van - gas, electric, phone? - running over a service dog I was walking across the street and chasing the van down.  I think Rebecca Luker was in one of them, not necessarily in either of the ones I remember most clearly.

Okay, now back to the important stuff:     :)

BK -- more info, and this is solid:

Love's Wood Pit Barbecue is indeed what (eventually) replaced the drugstore at Hollywood and Cherokee.  (It, too, had a corner entryway like the House of Pies.)  Those two things I could have sworn to on my deathbed, but as it happens, I have the most wonderful proof -- which is in a very large book that's awkward to scan and I need to be very careful with it  -- but I'll get it done in a bit and post it.

TOD:

Seattle:

I would go to Pancho's, my uncle's restaurant, and have the "special".  It was sort of a hamburger, but not really, and it was delicious.

Los Angeles:

The Hollywood Brown Derby for the Cobb Salad.

Or, the Cock 'n Bull for the lunch buffet.

Or, the Tail o' the Cock for the poached salmon.

Decisions...decisions...
