TCB, I didn't know that close vision, being a whole different issue, could be corrected at all through any kind of surgery.

Well, that is what the doctor said, but he had probably already checked my bank balances, and felt safe offering the other option.

Thanks, everyone.  I just don't think I have a "Gillette"-leading man voice....but then again, it's called acting!

I am reading about the castle DR CHAS SMITH, it is most fascinating....

DR TCB - there is sort of a resemblance....although I will need a nice new hairpiece that I can part in the middle.....

I also love THE JOLSON STORY/JOLSON SINGS AGAIN, as well as YANKEE DOODLE DANDY.

However, I would not consider either one of them to be a "bio-pic".  Dramatic license aside, both are, essentially, fictional excuses to present a bunch of the subject's musical numbers.  And, they present those numbers extremely well.

Off the top of my head, I would pick PATTON as my favorite "bio-pic".

Though it got just so-so reviews, I also liked DE-LOVELY, the bio they did of Cole Porter (with Kevin Kline) a few years back.

And, LAWRENCE OF ARABIA is certainly not chopped liver.

Bruce, having recently watched, and enjoyed, The Jersey Boys it was interesting to read your comments.

I also found the JERSEY BOYS movie adequate, but not nearly as good as the show is on stage.

I figured it would have been much better to see it on stage.

TCB are your eyes all fphealed? How is your vision?

My eyesight may continue to improve slightly over  the next few days, but I doubt I will even notice.  My distance vision is wonderful.  Very sharp and clear.  I can no longer read books, menus, or legal contracts without wearing my cheaters.  I wish I had the extra $3000.00 sitting around the house to correct my total vision, but that is only because I am vain and lazy.  As long as I remember my cheaters, I am quite fine.

Thanks again to everyone for the good wishes during this entire process.

How would you do that?  Keith has great distance vision since having his cataract surgery but also can't see much up close.

DR Jane:  Would "abode" work in place of "house", "condo" and "apartment"?  It's non-judgmental and gives no one any idea what type of habitate you have.

Thing "abode" it!

:D

LOL I like that.  I doubt I will remember to use it.  I'm getting home, vs condo, out about half the time now.  We called it the condo when we didn't live here.  Everyday it feels more like home.

I don't know the procedure, but my doctor offered me the choice, but it would have cost me an additional $1500. per eye (I assume) for a different type of lens.  My doctor was doing Lasik surgeries, as well as cataract surgeries, the day I was there.

It is so nice and cool here today.

Happily, I can say the same for Oakland CA today.  Not so Sunday or yesterday, however.

It's too early for lunch, but I'm rather hungry.  Am making do with some cheddar cheese Pringles I bought to accessorize my two sandwiches (roast beef and turkey).

Whatever possessed folks to tear down The Brown Derby?  If ever there was an historical landmark, that was one.

DR JRand64, William Gillette, huh? Fantastic!  I have been to the Gillette castle; it's quite fascinating and beautiful.

the people who make the decisions to use the open floor plan usually aren't actually part of the open floor plan.

Truer words were never posted.

I hate open floor plans for offices.  I'm also not particularly fond of it in homes either

A condo is your home if that's where you live.  It may not be a house, but it is a home.   When I lived in a  condo, I never called it "my condo"  I would say "my house" without thinking of it. If I was going to tell someone I was leaving, I would say I was going home.
