Callie has found a hiding place I can not find.   I searched the house for her this morning from top to bottom and bottom to top. Then I took a shower and fed the other two.  Finally, after about an hour she just walked into the room.  I still don't know where she was hiding

the people who make the decisions to use the open floor plan usually aren't actually part of the open floor plan.

Truer words were never posted.

I hate open floor plans for offices.  I'm also not particularly fond of it in homes either

We have an open living/dining room, which I love, but I wouldn't want it opened any further to expose the kitchen.

I wouldn't mind the open living/dining rooms.  I wouldn't want an open kitchen so when you eat you see the dirty pots an pans waiting to be washed

TCB are your eyes all fphealed? How is your vision?

My eyesight may continue to improve slightly over  the next few days, but I doubt I will even notice.  My distance vision is wonderful.  Very sharp and clear.  I can no longer read books, menus, or legal contracts without wearing my cheaters.  I wish I had the extra $3000.00 sitting around the house to correct my total vision, but that is only because I am vain and lazy.  As long as I remember my cheaters, I am quite fine.

Thanks again to everyone for the good wishes during this entire process.

How would you do that?  Keith has great distance vision since having his cataract surgery but also can't see much up close.

I don't know the procedure, but my doctor offered me the choice, but it would have cost me an additional $1500. per eye (I assume) for a different type of lens.  My doctor was doing Lasik surgeries, as well as cataract surgeries, the day I was there.

Interesting.  You may have been better off not having the money ;)  I don't know how well that "fix" works on older eyes.

It is what we have now but just for the main living areas.  The kitchen, dining, & great room/living room are all in one space.  I used to not like it in homes either.  I guess I have changed.  We hardly ever used the separate living room in our last home.  The kitchen was so beautiful we just hung out there.

I know most people love them.  Maybe if I had other people living here with me I'd like it.

I wouldn't mind having the kitchen opened to the family room, but the wall we'd have to remove used to be an exterior wall.  It's probably load-bearing, so we'd best leave it where it is...

I'm thinking about going to a few innings of the game tonight.   Two of our players were on the Pan Am Games gold medal Canadian baseball team.  They came back yesterday.  We missed them!

I know I shouldn't push it, but maybe just a few innings wouldn't hurt

It took me awhile to get used to it.  I like a formal dining room where you can't see the dishes in the kitchen when entertaining.  Having fewer walls does make the area feel larger.

When Bryan had his loft in Portland we looked at some and were tempted to move into one.  I think we realized everything open was a bit too much.

I have been watching videos online of color-blind folks trying on EnChroma corrective glasses for the first time. I have no idea how good they are, but it is entertaining. I myself don't have a problem with color-blindness, but my DH does.
The glasses are pricey, however.

I've seen a couple of those videos...very emotional!

That's too bad.  But what a life...he was 91 years old.

And speaking of the Topic of the Day:  The Sound of Music (even though he was in the Broadway production and not the movie)

Thanks, everyone.  I have seen photos of the "castle" DR ELMORE.....  Interesting.  Although it is the setting of the play, the writer Ken Ludwig wants Art Deco styling - the castle is not in that style.

It has been unseasonably and unCalifornialy muggy here for several days. EVERYONE is complaining about it. And rightfully so--even with theAC on it's often over 80 in this little apartment. Ugh! i don't know how I tolerated East Coast temps!

My back has been aching for the past week yesterday it was really terrible and I broke down and went to the chiropracter had a decent nights sleep and feel much better this morning. A few more visits are definitely in order .

So glad that Vixmom is getting some relief. May other aspects of her life improve as well.

I can't figure out why bosses are so enamored of the open floor plan, but note (from what I've seen in my own situation and in other companies) that almost always, the people who make the decisions to use the open floor plan usually aren't actually part of the open floor plan.

EGGACTLY!

I think they are sold a bill of goods by the designers. I've yet to live or work in one I liked.

I'll have to catch up later. I need to get some lunch. Then maybe a nap. I feel like I've been hit by a truck. (Insufficient sleep + stress + hot weather = UGH!)

TTFN. Vibes to all.
