Though it got just so-so reviews, I also liked DE-LOVELY, the bio they did of Cole Porter (with Kevin Kline) a few years back.

And, LAWRENCE OF ARABIA is certainly not chopped liver.

Not a lot of facts in De-Lovely either.

I did not like the soundtrack. :P

What a lazy little day this has been.  I suppose one needs one of those every few months.  Time to jog.

I like open floor plans, though I don't have that now.  I have a small "dining area" that leads to the living room ("L" shape), which reminds me of a story my friend told me years ago:  he knew someone in NYC who advertised an apartment as having an "L" shape.  Someone came to look at it and complained that it was just one room.  The response:  "I never said it was a capital L."

RIP, Theodore Bikel.

That's too bad.  But what a life...he was 91 years old.

A shame, but yes a good long life.

Thank you for the link.

Another day has gotten away from me.

The major busy work that has consumed my office the past week and a half is -- suddenly -- stilled.

Weatherbug says the outside temperature is 63 degrees.  It certainly feels nice to be out in it.

I'll be leaving shortly for the Signature Theatre to see our own Sandy Bainum!  She'll be singing the songs from "It Might Be Fun," of course!  Can't wait!

Did a three-mile jog.  Whew!  But, as sometimes happens, something came to me towards the end of it.  I'd begun to ponder what book I might enjoy writing come January.  I have a tiny idea for the next Hofstetter book, but I like to do every other year for those.  Last night I was thinking it might be fun to write a standalone suspense novel, and I have an outré idea for one, hazy but the bones of something.  But whilst jogging something else presented itself to me - I'd actually joked about a version of this idea three years ago, but it was nothing like what formed in my head - it was just kind of a jokey thing.  But when this came to me, I realized it could be something really fun and funny and funky and I'm going to run it by Muse Margaret who I think will love it.  So, if that's the case, I'll begin doing what I always do - making notes.

We saw Bikel on tour in FIDDLER ON THE ROOF a couple of decades ago....he spent most of the time sitting down....but he was very good....

Aileen Quinn of the first ANNIE movie played one of the daughters....she was not as good.

This just entered my mind after years of quiescence:

“Wise wretch! with pleasures too refined to please,
With too much spirit to be e'er at ease,
With too much quickness ever to be taught,
With too much thinking to have common thought:
You purchase pain with all that joy can give,
"And die of nothing but a rage to live.”

"interested daughter"...hmmmm.  My father taught me to catch and throw and I did both with our boys more than Keith did.  I even coached t-ball.

In our household the girls arrange their schedules around televised college football; the guys couldn't care less.

This is General Hospital patient #236 reporting in:

I spent the better part of the last two weeks doing a medical marathon, ie, attempting to get caught up on lots of medical and dental visits. I've been lasered, needled, cupped, poked, prodded, measured, and you-name-it. I truly hope the dental work is over for the year, with the exception of a few little check-ups. That could change quickly, of course. My primary care doc has been bugging me to take care of some of the wellness procedures. I'm all for wellness, but I have other concerns which I feel are much higher priority. I've been trying to get at least some of it behind me.
