Well, I'm feeling, sadly, that I'm right about the Annette Funicello home - it's empty, vandals have been spray painting graffiti on the windows - all the foliage is gone now and I just Googled and found that it sold last June for 900,000 bucks (a 1400 square foot two-bedroom house!).  That may have been an auction price because there was NEVER a for sale sign on the house at any time.  So, I fear the heavy equipment will be showing up and a classic and unique Studio City home will bite the dust and be replaced by a monstrosity.

Oh no.  That's terrible.

We're having a heat wave...

A tropical heat wave...

The temperature's risin'

It isn't surprisin'

We'll be running the AC the rest of the week!  ;)

DR George we stopped watching Falling Skies last week.

I don't think there's much left of the season, so I plan to watch it to the end.

Topic of the Day:

There are a lot of highly praised films that I didn't care for, but I don't think I could say that I couldn't stand them.  I don't usually have very strong opinions like that with movies.  There are a couple of TV shows that I've felt that way about, but not movies.

This is sad, and worse that you will have to live through the work.

The DH's cabaret concert yesterday was extremely well received. It was in celebration of the 50th anniversary of the local summer theatre program. The hall seats just over 500, and there were well over 300 in attendance.

Congrats to the DH!!

Yes, congratulations!

I thought we could as well but, for us, it has just become too predictable and we knew we weren't like where it was headed.

Today I drove for the first time since we left Ashland.  I don't enjoy driving and as you might recall we sold my car.  I went the short distance to Fred Meyer's and back.  I'm sure the practice is good for me.

Two of the most overrated films i can think of are 2001: A SPACE ODYSSEY and APOCALYPSE NOW; I loathed them.

Yesterday, I spent six hours watching the wonderful BBC version of Dickens' The Pickwick Papers, which was a total delight.  it cheered me up no end.  The casting was perfection.

I kept waiting...and waiting...and waiting...for the payoff in "Lost in Translation".

Folks have told me I didn't get it.   What's to "get"?  I got it.  I understood the characters and where they were and how they connected.

The only thing I didn't get or care about was what was whispered between the two characters in the last shot.

I've read endless commentaries on what might have been whispered.

To which I have always felt, "Frankly, my dear, I don't give a damn!"

I want my two hours wasted back.

TOD:
The Departed - too many f-bombs, and Mark and I started laughing when the Jack Nicholson character just would die already
The Matrix - too much gratuitous violence
