Off to a service. At the river. Literally.

There will be baptisms in it. The river, that is.

And we are supposed to bring suntan lotion and bug spray. And folding chairs.

Sunday morning greetings!  It's not a Lima day for us and we're staying home because Richard thinks no one wants his cough around them in any church.

There's even the inevitable mash-up of the new Dr. Seuss book and the revisionist Atticus Finch in the new To Kill a Mockingbird book:

(tune of “You’re a Mean One, Mr. Grinch”)

You’re a gold mine, Mr. Finch
Your success can never fade
They’ll be rich from all the interest
Once the devil has been paid
Mr. Finch
In that dark little bank vault
Is that where you should have stayed?

Love it!!!

Gee, no one talked so much about the new Dr. Seuss book when I posted about it last week!

I' sorry, did you say something?

My favorite internet title for a Seuss-Harper Lee crossover was "Go Pet a Watchdog."

Do bikers even have bells? I don't have one, but i suppose it could be useful.

Yes DR FJL......why would they plan the debate on the same night as the opening of INTO THE WOODS at the Putnam County Playhouse?

It is unthinkable.

I used to see it in the stores all the time.  It was big in record bins in drug stores and grocery stores.  I never owned it.  Or played it, although I used to see those midnight K-Tel commercials for it a lot.

So do you know whose 1967 evening of songs was written about by William Goldman in his book THE SEASON as follows:

Two men were standing in the lobby.  One said, "I don't know....is it theatre?"  The other man replied, "It has to be.  It sure as hell ain't singin'!"

I have to go to the board meeting.....so guess if you like.  Perhaps DR FJL can confirm if someone gets it right.....he or some other erudite New Yorkian.

Only if they are blocking the way. If they are over to one side then I slow down a bit. if they have a dog or child then I have my hand on my brakes.

I'm up, I'm up.  I have no idea how much I slept - maybe six hours?  I couldn't fall asleep again, took some NyQuil, and unfortunately that causes guck rather than helps guck.  Hopefully I can get it all out of me before sound check.

It didn't help, of course, that the obnoxious neighbors were out at eight-thirty making noise, then again at eleven REALLY making noise.

I would give those naughty neighbors a piece of my mind.

If I had any to spare.

Back from the service, which was lovely. And the picnic afterward.

If they used BBQ smoke instead of incense every week, the Episcopal church might draw larger crowds.

And the baptism was, indeed, right in the Mississippi River!

Resting up for a bit, then back out the door for a choral concert and then a birthday party.
